A mate just ran a hybrid ffrr v6 diesel down to Morocco. Driving like he'd hired it and doing 80-90 all the way, it got a genuine 36mpg. He described it as 'a bit quicker than your tdv8 sport'.

They've now stopped making that, though, haven't they? |

BBC 6 o'clock news say ALL JLR cars from 2020 are all electric, and will no longer produce petrol nor diesel!

With respect, that's not what was said. They said there would be an electric version of every model. |

Typical media, and the BBC was not alone in misreporting both this and the earlier Government statements.

I'm afraid you bang on. Getting the truth is quite hard and, I think, getting harder. We don't get to hear a politician, expert or company spokesperson we simple get the reporters telling us what was said - well their slant/spin on what was actually said. |

I can confirm this is correct and the BBC and others had to correct in a later reports, all models in range will have an Electric model, a Hybrid model and Petrol and Diesel models as now. JLR has set no date in foreseeable future to stop producing Diesel or Petrol engined cars, and believe the date will be nearer 2050 not 2040 plus many years after, with both fuels still supplied, and as stated the majority of new Locos and Mutiple unit trains are going to still be Diesel built and UK government (all parties) has no plans to ever fully electrify all rail lines. Could OP now please alter the title of his thread as not correct, in fact very untrue, due to false information. Thanks. John
