The rubber strip between the windscreen and the roof has just flown off on the M40. How vital is it and where can I buy a new one? 2007 L320 3.6 TDV8 HSE Java Black
2010 W204 C350 AMG Black
2007 E93 325i M Sport Black II
2004 E46 330ci M Sport Black II

About 10 quid from L/R or were, it's only really cosmetic but act's as a seal for water as well, may also help stop some wind noise I suppose.

I wasn't aware of any trim between the roof and the windscreen, just the bitumen/glue that holds the screen in place

There's two pieces of trim attached to the A pillars and the scuttle at the bottom of the screen. If it's one of the trims off the A pillar then you will need to cover all the holes with tape (until your new trim arrives) otherwise you'll find water in your foot wells

It's a piece of rubber LR032336 that goes across the full width of the roof and is stuck to the top edge of the sceen with double sided^ 3mVHB tape.

Might be worth using some L/R STC50550 adhesive to help stick in place, it's actually a Loctite product so if you could find there equivalent it will probably be half the price.
