I used to own an Audi RS4 (the original version, not the new V8 ) and a similar problem emerged with the original 18" wheels fitted. A number of owners were bending wheels with alarming regularity.
A campaign was started on the RS246 website to get Audi to address the problem. Audi's initial stance was that the wheels were specifically "soft" to protect other suspension components from damage. However, after much pressure from the website, they agreed to replace damaged wheels free of charge. Further more, they changed the design of the wheels and made them from a tougher alloy. Every owner was then given two choices a) replace the original "soft" wheels with the new harder alloys wheels free of charge or b) keep the original soft alloy and get a "lifetime" warranty with free replacement if damaged.
The result was that most owners chose the second option and kept the "soft" alloys. In the event that any wheel was damaged, he/she could take it along to the Audi dealer for a free no-questions-asked replacement.
I suspect the replacement wheels were in actual fact the harder wheels, but the owner still had a lifetime, transferable warranty.
That would, I suggest, be a satisfactory solution to the problem.

Best of luck in this effort and in the persistence and pursuit of a defect...I'm amazed that you are getting these types of scuffs, nicks on farm roads, you may indeed succeed in getting a lifetime supply of wheels...nonetheless, the off-roading community would highly suggest that you do find a suitable set of 19 with MTR or 18 to run so you can get even deeper into the off-roading activity - perhaps a kind neighbor or other member nearby could store your stack of 5 for you.


Perhaps a similar effort could be dedicated to fixing the dreaded steering wheel vibration syndrome.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this lengthy chain, and found it entertaining to read this particular excerpt posted upon receiving the letter from LR:

"And yes, that first four words ARE gramatically incorrect, and that's from LR, not me. (A small thing, but it matters)"

As I've stated in another post, we took delivery of our RRS on Monday. During the delivery process, the MD of the dealership came out to say "Hello" and commented on how nice the Stormers looked on the car. He then went on to remind me that, while they are great in the summer, I should get winter tyres mounted on another set of wheels. Then, as we talked about Land Rover Experience Days, he again cautioned that we should not go offroad with the Stormers, that they will damage very easily and to be careful about pavement curbs as well.
