Hi recently ive noticed the engine seems alot noisier, now it was fairly intermittent untill recently where its always noisy, now today when stationary i investigated and the fan was running non stop, sounds very concerning.
Is it anything to be worried about or is it a common issue?

I thought they had a vicious fan, which is driven by the engine, and would be moving all the time.

Your viscous van may be knackered there is a bi-metallic strip that when it heats up it looks the fan on and when its cooler it stops the fan spinning all the time so yes when its at normal operating temp it should not be spinning apparently you can actually hold it but would never recommend trying it

Thanks for the help, is it at all related to the air con? I only ask as i noticed it was on all the time but after i had turned off the engine etc and on the way home it was normal, no noise etc, the difference was i had the a/c on but didnt on the way back when it was fine

The van will run more when air-con is on but get it checked if you can

yes it will run faster with the air con on.

If it's very noisy it may need replacement
