In an interview a couple of weeks back Steve Irwin was asked what his favourite kids TV programme was. He said he loved Thunderbirds, but there was always a place in his heart for Stingray.

I'm sorry but I never forgave him for taking that poor baby into the crocodile enclosure, it was like Michael Jackson dangling his kid over the balcony.....sicko. I'm just sad it wasn't a croc that got him live on tv. Yeah I do feel for the ones he left behind but he was as nutty as a fruit cake...come on, his time had come. At least the crocs can scran in peace now. |

As crazy as it seems he was in control of the situation, yes all animals are unpredictable, but so are dogs. If you know the distances the animal works too then you're safe enough. I've played grandmothers footsteps with hippos, which are considerably more dangerous than crocs, but the principal is the same - know the animal. There would be less risk crossing a busy road, its just most of us don't deal with supposed dangerous animals every day.

I thought he was a top bloke and he'll be missed in our household. You can't deny the draw he had for kids and wildlife.
