sounds like someone has nicked it and the spare previously you can get a new part from ebay they are cheap enough |

There is also an anti-theft device available that will additionally protect the wire/ winch. In addition to a new spare you will also need to replace the hoisting winch and wire. Plenty of posts about this and the anti theft device (it's very cheap and 100% effective) on the forum and over on Disco3.co.uk 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

You need an Uncle Ray (RLD) spare wheel protector as well as a new winch cable and a new spare
