Multi story parking...do yet feel lucky punk...well do ya

This may have been posted before. I have a RRS 2013 HSE. Has anyone ever had any bother getting these in or out of multi story car parks?

In which respect? Car too long/ wide or high or just the steering lock not good enough to go tound the up/ down ramps? I've never had a problem with any of the RRS's or FFRR's that I have had. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Only problem I had was High curbs! Done one of my diamond cut rims! Was not a happy bunny. Big Cry Also spaces are not big enough! Mind you, always use the underground car park in Covent Garden when I visit London. But normal car park charges do not apply. MY11 Autobiography supercharged. Santorini Black. Monaco interior. Rear screens. Privacy.
Gone MY08 Supercharged HST. Java black. Ivory premium interior. Rear screens. Privacy. Missed a lot.
Gone MY04 Discovery V8 Petrol ES Premium. Awesome.

then press the button and drop it to access height and lock it down in access (that's what it is there for!). Once you leave the car park remember to unlock it otherwise you will get the dreaded bongs from the dash and a warning on the screen that the speed is restricted to 30mph until you unlock the button. To lock it down press the the lowering button and hold until you hear the gong, to unlock press again until you hear the bong again! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I've never had problems. The RRS is lower than the Discovery and the FFRR don't forget. The steering lock is excellent - the RRS has a tighter turning circle than many saloon cars although RRS2 is not nearly as good as the original was. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

You have never noticed the little padlock icon beside the suspension height switch and wondered what it meant? Tut Tut I would get a set of steps out and look at your car roof, especially if you have parked in any car park with a hanging height barrier with 2.1m or lower marked on it...............

RRS1 also does the same thing with a different design of switch but it still has a padlock icon on it.

As you can see from the breaking down of the coating I use the height buttons a lot - like every time I get in or out of the car, every time I go up to offroad height and back........... LR take note you need to beef up the coating - that's after 2.5 years of ownership and 50% of that time the car doesn't move an inch......... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Never had a problem in multi storey car parks, but must admit I also always lower and lock suspension on entering. Smile John

The coating on my buttons is still fine (22 months, nearly 16k miles) and I use the height buttons quite a bit too. Even though MY16 has auto access height and I have enabled it, I still manually lower the car while parking and raise it when setting off. Old habit from previous RRSs. Use off-road height fairly regularly too.

To OP, I've never had any problems even without lowering the car when entering car parks with hanging height barriers marked as low as 1.89m. Having said that, always safer to lower and lock before entering as Tim advised Thumbs Up Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Not only had I never noticed the padlock, I just had to go and look to check I even had one! Embarassed Having said that, I've never parked in a multi-storey car park either, so not been at risk. (In my defence, I don't actually use the low setting as I rely on my deployable side steps for access).

However, not noticing the padlock after four month's ownership is nothing compared with some things I've missed in the past - I had a car for five years and was cleaning the foot-well to trade it in when I accidentally found out that it had got an adjustable steering column (it fell on my head when I bumped into the operating lever!). The last car I sold had a compartment in the boot in which I found a warning triangle and that was also the day I traded it in! Laughing
