Scotland 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Buckingham Blue
Service book missing

Is it possible to buy a service book, and then ask LR to backdate it with any services that they carried out during its life time? Previously owned 1999 Disco 2 TD5
Disco 3 HSE TDV6 2007
Gone 2007 TDV8 RRS1 in Buckingham Blue.

How do know if the knocking at the front has been sorted?

You can hear the knocking at the rear better

Faced with the same problem, I found the answer is yes and no Rolling Eyes

You can buy service books on eBay as they occasionally come up from dealerships who have bought one from JLR and then not used it. That's what they tell you anyway.

Here is an example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/fast.delivery.h...7675.l2562

Incredibly for a major manufacturer JLR had no centralised database for recording servicing until just a few years ago (2013 ish?).

If you can find out from previous owners or from any documents that came with the car which garages and or franchises serviced your vehicle then some of them will happily put a stamp in your book if they can find a record in their own internal records. Some however will refuse on the grounds of data protection which is cobblers of course but the real reason is that they are very often asked to do this by dealers and can't be bothered.

I was able to at least get stamps in my book but there were no details of any other work done in addition to standard servicing. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I tried to find my service book prior to taking the RS in for this year's service,, finally realising I had mistakenly thrown it out with some old insurance docs!. Mentioned it to my indie when i took it in and he said they could get another one but could only stamp it up with the services they had carried out. 2010 RRS, TDV8

black perforated leather
22" overfinch

I only recently bought my 2012 RRS from a main dealer and there is no service book, just a few print outs showing services completed. Should there have been a service book?

Oh no, that's just brilliant, so I don't have a service book for a £25000 car, I am never buying from a main stealer again, bunch of sharks.

Mine is a 2007 should have a Service book, as it wont have been, and wont be always serviced by LR.

But I did get a partial history that would be part of the service book build, but sadly no actual book. As suggested above I have bought a LR replacement book, and will try to get it updated. Previously owned 1999 Disco 2 TD5
Disco 3 HSE TDV6 2007

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Do people buying a car 10+ years old really expect there to be a service manual these days? I would say that expecting any used car over 6-7 years old to have one these days might be wishful thinking, especially if it has had several previous owners. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW
