Does Anyone Know What This Cable is For?

Hi there,

Yesterday I decided to give my engine bay a good clean and came across a spare connector with two cables attached and what looks like a blanking plug on the end?

The twin cable comes out of the loom between the battery box and the Park Heater. It is an original part of the loom, not an add-in and has two cable fixing plugs attached but is laid loose in the engine bay. I cannot find any spare holes within reach of the cable length to push the fixing plugs into and there are no electrical components without cables connected within reach? Any ideas what it may be for?

Perhaps one for Col to investigate? Your challenge for today Very Happy

Thanks

Steve

I think you may find it is for a Valve (which may or may not be fitted) which is part of the FBH water circuit.

L/R description Valve-Water Circuit Closure.

Hi Col,

I thought that you would rise to the challenge Thumbs Up

One cable is black and one is red with a black tracer. Hope that helps?

Cheers,

Steve

FFBH Control Module Harness Connector C0926 Pin Details
Pin No. Description Input/Output
1 Permanent battery power supply Input
2 Ground Output
Changeover Valve
The changeover valve is a normally open solenoid valve installed between the supply and return sides of the heater
coolant circuit. When de-energized, the changeover valve connects the heater coolant circuit to the engine coolant
circuit. When energized, the changeover valve isolates the heater coolant circuit from the engine coolant circuit.
The changeover valve is controlled by a power feed from the ATC (automatic temperature control) module.

Item 8 Changeover Valve (if fitted)

Not all vehicles had this valve fitted for whatever reason may be market dependent, so if the plug is blanked off I would assume you do not have it fitted, on my car it is taped to the battery lead but saying that mine is the 5.0L S/C so does not have a FBH anyway.

Cheers
Col

Mystery Solved, well done Col! Thumbs Up

Thanks Col, I will tape the cable and connector to the battery lead to avoid it coming into contact with the hot FBH components.

I will need to try harder to find a question that you can't answer Bow down

Cheers Thumbs Up

Steve
