Bike rack for Range Rover Sport

Hi all, does anyone have a good 3rd party bike rack solution they would recommend and details of what is involved/needed for installation?. A tailgate option would be preferable, but could do roof mount if only option? Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

Hi, don't have a tow bar as apart from this don't really have a need to tow (chelsea tractor etc Smile)

Is the tow bar option pretty straight forward to install/rough cost? Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

Just makes life easier with a tow bar mounted rack. There are racks for the boot but have heard of straps rubbing paint off spoiler on boot etc but cannot confirm so hopefully someone will be along that may use one.

My personal opinion is bikes on the roof of a Range is a pain in the Censored it's a long way up even in access mode and then trying to secure it. If you accidentally drop it then there would be substantial damage or even a new moon roof! Whistle 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

You are right about bikes on the roof. Had gone with a camping weekend with a friend who took his kids bikes on the roof of his Q7 and exactly that happened when taking them down.

Looks like a tow bar based solution in that case. I had looked into this for my old previous model sport, but no idea on what I need for the l494 RRS, any suggestions on what I need to get end to end / cost? Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

Thule also makes a very nice but also very expensive electro-hydraulic bike lift for the roof mounted bike carriers.............. price is probably more suited to Bentayaga owners than most RRS owners though 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

i have a DIsco4 / RRS towbar which i keep meaning to pop up for sale, not sure if it would fit yours though, then you would just need the electrics to light the number plate board as they are required now, unless you collect points

To be honest I am just after something that will allow me to carry up to 3 bikes occasionally, 1.) to save ever having to try and put a bike inside the car and 2.) just to increase the range of places to ride.

Anybody tried a tailgate clip on jobby? Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

So Called "Hollywood" bikeracks that hook over the top of the spoiler/top lip of the tailgate and onto the bottom of the tailgate damage the edge of the rear spoiler - they wear the paint off the edge quite easily 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

The other year I purchased a cheap 4 way bike rack from feebay IIRC £130 ish. My advice if you buy a model like this is get the newer one with the quick lock handle. My model has a bolt arrangement to lock the rack down onto the tow ball, takes about 10 mins to fit up. Fine for occasional use.
The other consideration is tow bar electrics, with 3 bikes unless you can swing them up high out the way you are going to need a lights.

I looked at boot mounts and decided against as the rear spoiler issue, as described above.
