Being a Yorkshireman I've been brought up on Joshua Tetley & Timothy Taylor's finest.
As a rebellious yoof I found escapism at the bottom of many a JD bottle!
Times and tastes though change. I was gifted a bottle of Jim Beam as a Christmas tip a couple of years ago (something I'd never tried) and realised I REALLY enjoyed a wee dram! I'm currently having a little fling with this rather sumptuous little number, yet again gifted to me by my Bestie, for being his Best Man.
Any of you guys n girls fans of the distilled headache inducer? Care to share your favourites?

I'm a big fan of Mr Daniels Tennessee and his Single Barrel version is the business. Jim Beam Red Stag is also a good tipple, if a little on the sweet side. 2019 RRS P400e Autobiography

Lots of nice whiskys out there, balvennie triple cask is particularly drinkable, I'm a big fan of mcallen fine oak although it's too light for some, and the Welsh whiskies are great. Less of a fan of the American stuff, unless it's mixed with coke in a dive bar at 2am, in which case I'm right back in my teens

Now I know I'll be 'Sent to Coventry' for this, but Mr Beam with a tiny drop of Dry Ginger really is nice.

What's a pain for me is that the Red stag can be bought only from he airport on outbound journeys. It cannot be bought in Finland, and the cost is only 15€ from duty free. Compared to almost 40€ for a regular bottle of Jack or Jim.

There are some very fine Malts from Islay (the adjoining island to Jura) too but my favourite "every day tipple" is from Orkney - Highland Park. Laphroaig is another Islay Single Malt that is easily available and pretty dammed fine as is the 25 year old Glen Ord Single Malt that I have for very very special occasions. Really good whiskies don't have to be hugely expensive just made in small production batches - the Irish and American brands mentioned not Whisky, they are imposters hence they are called Whiskey to confuse the unwary............ BTW if you knew what is added to the water on Islay and Jura to give it it's distinctive flavour you probably wouldn't drink it................ both islands are the biggest known winter roosting grounds for the Canada Goose............. they leave a lot of "calling cards" around.......... Good Tequila has a worm in it, at least Islay and Jura Malts have an additive you cannot see! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Sounds gross I know! Like you say, it adds to the flavour. Now I'm by no means an expert but being distilled there should be no real danger. We've all consumed worse though when you think about it! I'm sure as a kid I'm not the only one to eat snow, soaking up all the airborne pollutants on its way down! Natural spring water that hasn't been distilled, possibility of a dead animal further up the flow! Then the good old favourite.... Saturday Night Keebab! Sober, it just wouldn't enter your head would it? I've seen 'meat' (allegedly) turning on that skewer that I'm sure a good vet would be able to bring back round! Yet with the old beer goggles on... Irresistible!
