Using iPhone Hotspot for iPad

Hi,

I need to buy a new iPad but only use it occasionally away from home and want to avoid the cost of another monthly sim. Should I be able to use "personal hotspot" on my iPhone to enable an iPad wireless access?

Thanks

When I am abroad or haven't topped up my iPad SIM I use my mobile phone (also an iPhone) SIM in my iPad Pro in the UK and Europe, never use it further a field as the data roaming rates outside the EU are horrendous. Usually I buy SIMs locally and often huge amounts of data are way way cheaper than the same amount in the UK - there are some fantastic deals in West African countries where also in the major ports and cities there is good high speed mobile data, often 4G too. Many "3rd World" countries have way more advanced and much faster networks than the UK. Changing over the SIM is easier for us technophobes than setting up a hotspot! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Yes, I do it all the time. Check your contract let's you do it and take the data from your allowance, if not you might get a massive bill.

Some contracts allow full data allowance or a % to be used thru personal hotspots,
Also depending on your iPhone data allowance, if it's not unlimited,
Turn off iPad app auto updates will save eating In to your allowance RRS my12hse Firenze Red
