Alloy Wheels for new RRS

In need of some advice please. I have ordered a new RRS Autobiography Dynamic and don't like the new standard silver 22 in alloys. I opted to go down to 21 in Satin Grey. However I feel a bit hard done by as you would think there would be better non cost options ie gloss black without adding on the stealth pack.

Anyway I was after some advice and rough cost on if I was to take the standard silver 22 inch alloys and get them sprayed gloss black. Whats my best option without having to shell out for another set of alloys to add to my order which I have no need for another set and selling them becomes more fun and games. Also going down the route of a respray are there any drawbacks compared to manufactured range rover gloss black ones, apart from the obvious huge price difference.

Thanks. Thumbs Up

Ask the dealer to remove them & have them either painted or powder coated.

Thanks Tyrefitter. Could you explain further as I mentioned to my dealer I was after the 507 black gloss and he said their would be a charge and have an extra set?

I don't know if to stick with 22inch or 21inch for a more comfortable ride.

What's the difference in quality from an aftermarket respary and gloss black straight from the manufacture. If I was to get the dealer to organise a respray I am guessing they would use an outside company. Would this cause any warranty issues. What's better powder coating or spraying. I was also thinking of getting the toe eye covers painted gloss black as not to keen on the grey plastic look. This would match the rest of the car.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Having run three RRS's over the last 12 years with 19", 20" and 22" OEM wheels I have not found any difference in ride comfort - it has been very good regardless size of wheel/tyre. More important i have found is the roadnoise that tyres generate and the best for quiet running I found was the 19" Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow winter tyre I ran on my 2007 TDV8 in the winter - much less noise than the 19" Goodyears on the 2005 TDv6 SE or the 22" Continentals I'm running my current L494 RRS on - I guess it has a lot to do with the hardness/ softness of the compound that they are made with. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I would ask the dealer to remove wheels & tyres & get them powder coated or painted yourself,,I would go for the powder coating myself as it's a lot tougher than paint or ask the dealer if they know anyone that will do them, your probably looking at £30-£40 per wheel to have them blasted then a further £30-£40 per wheel for powder coating.

Thanks Tim and Tyrefitter for your help, very much appreciated. It seems a much cheaper option to have the wheels powder coated in gloss black then to pay over £2k for a set from Land Rover as an added option.

All the best.

Thanks Tim. Well spotted in the for sale section. I will have a good look over the Bank Holiday and decide as looking at photos on line the satin grey 21 inch wheels I have chosen look very nice and classy against the Loire Blue paintwork.

I was having a chat with RRSman about the updated RRS due out end of the year and I am in two minds now, as do I hold out or do I take it now. The thing with LR they love a good update every year so unless you are in a position to change every time they have a update you can never keep up. I will keep mine for under 3 years which I believe is perfect timing for the completely new change of style according to the sales manager I dealt with..... (taken with a pinch of salt)!
