2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
2nd Scottish Land Rover Show May 27th & 28th

Last year the 1st Scottish Land Rover Show was way better attended than was expected so there is another one being held over the weekend of 27/28 May at The Royal Highland Show Ground Ingleston near Edinburgh. As last year was only a small event the high attendance figure has encouraged more clubs and suppliers of kit/parts/accessories to take stands for this year.
Oddly local Land Rover dealers from Central Scotland were notable by their absence but Duckworth's Land Rover bought a huge load of kit north with them and both days I attended their tent was packed out with folks looking for a bargain. All the usual exhibition stands for useful/always wanted but never used tools were there as well as specialist makers of bits. BAS ECU tuning had a stand. There is something for owners of every version of Land Rover and few versions you have never seen like caterpillar tracked Series Landies. You can buy tickets in advance on the show's website. I will be there as my RRS will be one of the cars on the Scottish Green Road Club stand. Hope to maybe see a few RRSport.co.uk members over the weekend.
There is also an auto jumble area for those looking for bits for older cars.

BTW even non Land Rover owners are welcome to come - Land Rover accessories also often fit quite a few of the Japanese built 4x4's!

There is car parking in the field to the west of the RHSG just off the dual carriage way, where you would normally park to attend the Royal Highland Show. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I was planning to have a stand there this year, with my TDV8 Disco 3, Rebuilt Defender and my turbocharged Freelander

The TDV8 is still sat on the floor
The Defender still needs a set of doors and a respray (among other things)
The Freelander has been off the road since December

There's always next year Laughing Big Cry

Mikey, I know you went last year as I was directed to park about 4 cars along from your MMP logo'd Discovery! I took along a non Land Rover owner friend who I thought wasn't going enjoy mixing with a load of Land Rover nerdy sorts but she had a great day and spent a fortune on Land Rover toys and branded Tee Shirts for her grandson. I thought she was going to be bored out of her wits but she wasn't. Helped that we met lots of people we know from various SLROC and SGRC events we have attended who, like her, are not what would be considered LR nerds, to them it's another car but one with a big following. Just hope that the weather is good over the weekend. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Not decided on a day to go yet. Going to see how the weather fares

I'd prefer the Saturday, but see how it looks closer to the time Thumbs Up

And hopefully have a stand there next year, with a sneaky BBQ Whistle Thumbs Up

I'm thinking of going. Is there a best day to go or both the same? For me it'd be best to go on the Saturday but I might be able to juggle things to attend on the Sunday if there was justification.

It's a shame Scotlandshire is so far away. Edinburgh for the day becomes Edinburgh for a long weekend. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Dennis - I don't think it matters which day, it is not a vast show like the ones in Englishshire with huge offroad tracks to play on etc etc - see what the weather forecast is like and then decide. That weekend is usually the 2 days that is a Scottish Summer anyway - and as it is also the weekend of the Drymen Show it is guaranteed to rain!

RRSTDV8 - the show ground is only 30 minutes walk from Edinburgh Airport, or you can let the train take the strain and travel up to Waverley and then take the shiney new tram system out to the airport and hoof it (the Edinburgh tram system is looking for customers - they have a huge debt to pay off..........) 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim,

Does Martin ever take a stand to promote the various LR Forums he runs? Would be a good advertising/PR for the various fora and provide a common meeting point for existing members.

Just a thought.

A 2 day summer...you southerners are so lucky, we only get the 1 day!

After looking at flights, boats, and everything in between it now looks like a goer for me. Might only get there from 10 or 11am Saturday but will have an overnight so can go Sunday morning too, before heading back to Aberdeen for the boat home.

Looking forward to seeing some folk there now Very Happy

Jock55 - not that I know of but I wouldn't be surprised if the Disco3 squad hasn't run one on a forum basis rather than involving Martin. However if folks want to arrange a forum meet up then I'm happy to stay on the Green Road Club stand near to my car and meet forum members if they come by, it could also be made into a forum mini-meet. I saw lots of D3's and D4's in the car park last year proudly showing their Disco3.co.uk window stickers. I don't have one on my Sport as the "spare" I have at home is one for the interior of the screen of a non privacy glass RRS so it doesn't show very well on my present Sport which has privacy glass. \
SGRC will have a 20m x 20m stand and we hope to have a good selection of every model of Land Rover from Series 1 through to a Disco5 including Freelander, Defender, D1/D2, L322 FFRR all of them belong to members of the club and get driven on our GRR's and come along to our special club training days where expert tuition is given to those who would like to be a bit more adventurous and maybe try something more challenging than a track over the hills that might involve a muddy field and some steep slopes, maybe some tuition in safe winch use and also non-winch recovery.
If you want to see what we get up to then the club has a website at www.scotgrc.co.uk where there is a link to our galleries of photos. The ethos of the club is to take members off the tar but to stay on the likes of forest fire roads and private shooting / hunting/fishing tracks with the land owner's permission in or near to the Central Belt of Scotland where it is unlikely that they will damage their car, need any modifications or special tyres/equipment ie the drives out are planned for showroom condition unmodified Land Rover products. Yes we get lots of modified Landies coming along and they aren't disappointed with the Sunday drives, and often anything more challenging scares the living daylights out of the owners of some tricked up cars Rolling with laughter but then we have the training days for them to try their skills out on. I would say 99% of the cars that come along are the family day to day transport that has to be able to do the school/ work run the next day, so we don't aim to do anything too extreme on a GRR - it's there to do if you want to but nobody is forced to drive a special stage if they don't feel that they have the skill and often other owners are happy to let those folks travel (or even drive) in their cars - I have offered numerous Freelander and Evoque owners the chance to drive both the RRS and Defender on surfaces or down steep hills that require low range which their cars don't have and the club wouldn't let them drive on/ down anyway. Also the club is basically a families club - there are other clubs that will take you offroad racing or trialling or mud plugging, we don't encourage those scenarios! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Looks like Saturday will be the better day to go - although if the forecast thunderstorms appear on Sunday then the entire car park should become a great offroad course.......... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I'm there this afternoon setting up the SGRC stand and then all weekend - it was 28c here west of Stirling yesterday and already 23c at 0940.......... a little bit of thin high cloud but that is burning off as the land heats again. Hope to see you there Mikey. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Well guys, bring the SPF Factor50 because if today was anything to go by there was a lot of very powerful sun and little breeze at the show set up day today. The Campsite was mobbed by 4pm and when I left at 1830 there was still a long line of assorted Land Rovers queuing along the Glasgow Road waiting for access - one thing I did notice this year is how many foreign registered Defenders and Discovery3 on the campsite this year - the word has got out that last years show was worth while attending and I think that there will be a much bigger attendance this weekend than there was last year. I just hope that all those foreign Landy owners aren't heading off to the north and the NC500 as part of their holiday - the roads around the North of Scotalnd were never intended to handle Land Rovers towing huge caravans.............. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
