Don't go ahead until someone with more knowledge comes along here but is this a case for disconnecting both battery leads and shorting them out for 20 seconds or so (hard reset?) and then reconnecting .??

Will the engine start and run? - this can be a sign of a low charged battery, how long was it disconnected for?- hours, days, weeks?

Yupp, the satnav and stereo won't come on before the battery reaches a certain voltage (it can be set in the hidden menu in the stereo). Regards etc.,
