The ZF 8 HP70 is a superb gearbox, much better than the 6HP Just bought a RRS 06 MY HSE TDV6 136,000 miles, to be a second car to my bland, boring Mitsubishi Outlander 68 plate 2.0 petrol 4

8 Speed is newer, but SDV6 does NOT have a gear lever. Big Cry Big Cry
Driven both, honestly, tootling around locally no difference, maybe 8 speed searching for gears a tad more.

Going to put my tin hat on now as I sure someone will along to shoot me down shortly. Rolling with laughter In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

I'm not sure it's a question of a choice between gearboxes. You really have to take the whole package into account.

The newer car is much more superior in performance but that's down to a combination of a lighter body and the new engine/gearbox, so there's no point comparing gearboxes in isolation. I don't find the 8 speed hunting for gears but it does feel a bit smoother. Overall, speed for speed, the SDV6/8speed gearbox runs at a good few hundred revs below the TDV6.

I thought the TDV6 & SDV6 had the same body Question In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
