Are After - market Timing Belt kits ok ??

hello chaps,

long story short , I've been a silly sausage and bought a 2008 L320 with no service history ! yeah i know ... Rolling Eyes

there is nothing marked in the engine bay to say that the timing belt was done at any stage...
there is 200k on the clock and I will definitely have to get the belt done ASAP .

A few questions..

1. is there a decent after market kit that anybody could recommend ? .

2. is doing the rear belt a must ?

3. should i definitely get the oil pump changed at the same time ?

4. apart from having my head examined , is there anything else i should look to check or replace ?

thanks in advance.

1. Dayco belt kits are good

2. At 200K I think you may as well. Apparently they can slice thru the wiring loom if they break up

3. At 200K yes

4 replace alternator belt

Expensive engine if the belts fail, so why try to penny pinch on cheap belts ??? In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Buy a Citroen pump as they are cheaper

Dayco belts are OEM

Yes, do the rear belt

Yes, do the oil pump

Do the idler pulleys for the front belt, as well as the aux belt. Be prepared to need an aux belt tensioner

Thumbs Up
