Insurance companies who aren't on the comparison websites?

It's renewal time and Admiral have decided in their wisdom to bump my annual premium from £460 to £1200! Nothing has changed apart from me accruing another year NCD.

A trawl through the comparison sites has seen the cheapest at £580 if I buy from Hastings Direct, but do any of you insure with a company not on the comparison websites?

A lot of the big names refused to quote, citing the recent spate of RR thefts as the reason. I've tried Direct Line and Aviva who advertise not being on the comparison, but neither of them could get under £1000. Any other rec's?

For context; I'm 39, London Post Code, 15yr NCD, 6k miles a year.

Thanks in advance. Thumbs Up SOLD - MY16 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic - Fire Engine Red, Fixed contrast pan roof, TV, Dual Screen, 5+2, Privacy, Noble paddles.

Have you had a chat with Admiral on the phone? My renewal quote from went up from £750 to £1650 and after a 5 mins call it was dropped back down to £900. Worth a chat Wink

They blamed an increase amount of theft in my area of such cars - funny that I had not heard of any RR being stolen where I live!

Yup - I rang yesterday and the most they could knock off the price still had it Circa £950.

They were also citing the large spate of thefts in London as a reason for the rises. SOLD - MY16 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic - Fire Engine Red, Fixed contrast pan roof, TV, Dual Screen, 5+2, Privacy, Noble paddles.

Do JLR still do their own insurance?

What about the 4X4 specialists insurance companies? Just bought a RRS 06 MY HSE TDV6 136,000 miles, to be a second car to my bland, boring Mitsubishi Outlander 68 plate 2.0 petrol 4

Have you tried the site sponsors A-Plan?
My renewal has just come through, Hastings Direct was £450 last year, almost twice that for this year. No claims made with them.
A-Plan has quoted under £400 with less excess payable and no claims protection included which I didn't have before.
Has to be worth a call?

With the above details, £460 was a steal but looking at my last premium of £1300+ your £950 doesn't look too bad to me at least. Same location, age group and NCD but 10k miles/year.

Try NFU Mutual as well. They aren't on comparison websites. They were about £200 more than the cheapest I could find but much better cover and customer service so renewed with them. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
Gone: MY16 RRS2 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic, Carpathian Grey & Santorini Black Sliding Pano/Ebony & Ivory 2 Tone
Gone: MY13 RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition, Orkney Grey/Ivory

Direct line quoted me far less than admiral who I used to be with.

I insured my first RRS Suupercharged last year with AXA and I have a London postcode, in my 40's with 16 years protected NCD and 6k miles. It also included adding my partner who has no NCD and a foreign driving licence and windscreen and key replacement and they did it for £650.
I've been with them before so felt happy staying with them. 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue
2005 4.2L Supercharged Java Black - gone but was my first love.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

Try Clegg Gifford Insurance Brokers. They place the business through TRADEX insurance. I've been with them for 18 years and they have never failed to come up with a good price, whatever exotic wheels I try them with.

A little Olde World perhaps: you have to phone them - 01708 729500

They are particularly good if you have more than 2 or 3 cars. They have a 'Family Fleet' option. You can add up to 8 vehicles, a mix of cars vans bikes if you wish.

A plan insured several cars for me very cost effectively before the Sport.

Now I am with LR Insurance, aka Allianz. Two years running, and they will "discuss" the renewal premium. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I've used Clegg Gifford since about 1990. Spot on outfit, and as Jules says, not your standard insurance company. But highly recommended. Get a 2005-2009 RRS (FAH500210) sat nav/dash mat here - the one that wasn't there when you bought the car.

Spiffing wheel centre caps available
