England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 Autobiography Java Black
New Battery

Hi All,

I wanted to fit a new battery to my RRS 2.7 2006. I currently have a 95ah fitted but found this battery on ebay and wondered if it would be suitable.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1x-Exide-Premium...2606907016

Can anyone help?

Many thanks

Brutus,

Also just about to get a new battery - for my 2007 TDV8.

That one you spotted looks fine. I'm also looking at this 'Enduroline' unit:-

https://www.tayna.co.uk/019-Enduroline-Car...P8385.html

Tayna also sell that Exide EA1000 one you spotted but the eBay price is a little less.

My old original LR branded Varta battery is a 90/950 and both the Exide and the Enduroline are rated at 100/900 so I guess they'll be fine.

Just checked eBay again and the Enduroline 019 is £78.53 which is cheaper than on their website. Mad. I think I'll press the button on that one, next day delivery.

Jules

Jules,

Thanks for the link. It seems very similar to the exide and price looks good too.

Can anyone advise please?

Whilst fitting a new battery, would it be a good idea to do a reset? I've read elsewhere on here that holding the leads together for 20 seconds will do this.

Many thanks,

Don't bother if everything is fine.

The time taken to swap the battery will do it anyway

Steve,

Andy K is correct. No need to reset. It takes 20 mins or so after disconnecting the old batt.

I did mine today. Got the Enduroline 019 from Tayna. Delivered next day, well packed and protected.

Unpacked it, took out the little red vent stopper and prepped the battery posts and terminals with petroleum jelly. The battery comes with 'swing-out' terminal protectors that need to be removed (otherwise you can't get the big plastic cover back over the battery and fuse box). Tip: when you have the new battery in place, remove the terminal protectors completely otherwise, if you leave them in place and fit the battery clamp you'll find that the fold-a-way battery carrier then traps the connectors in place, in particular the negative side and you'll have to wrestle them out - like I did!

Another small point - I found that the tapered posts on the new battery were slightly larger than the old battery. You'll need to get a mallett and a thin pices of wood and tap the terminals firmly down onto the posts otherwise if you just push fit them you may find that there is not enough 'clamp' after you tighten up the nust and the terminals are not tight on the posts. I had to do this on both terminals.

Other than that, it is all straightforward.

Thanks for the detailed tips, that'll make life a lot easier.

That's the one I ordered and got next day. The Enduroline (019 spec size).

All good.

Sorry for the delay, I don't know how I missed your post.

Yes, that is the one. There is also a delivery charge but still a good deal.
