Oil pump

I'm about to start pulling my tdv6 apart to do timing belts so will do oil pump to, even though it looks a mission! .

Lots of pumps on eBay ranging between 90 quid and about 240 . Any one got thoughts on which or which not to get or would you recommend Land Rover ?

Thanks
Nick

It's all apart and ready to be built up , problem is I've lost one of those green seals from the top of the old pump and I'm worried it's gone in the sump Sad , I've looked everywhere Sad

just finished, taken me about two and a half days in all, done oil, filter, oil pump, timing belts. worst bit was definitely the pump and getting the starter out of the way to get the lock in.
What i would say is i didn't remove the starter. i moved the fuel cooler, unbolted the starter then pulled it towards the front of the car as far as it will go which is just far enough to get the bendix out of the bell housing then pull it down and leave it.
you can then unbolt the fuel pipe clip, flirt the bung out and put the tool in. all by feel as you can't see it.

make sure you bolt the tool through the top starter bolt hole (a 13mm bolt) to hold it in place.

crank bolt came undone with a big breaker bar and then the new bolt did back up but i have to admit i was worried the lock would hold it.

after that i marked the crank pulley to the new pump.

the tool was stuck and took some riggling to get out.

Thumbs Up
