I placed a new order for a HSE Dynamic and got what I thought was a good discount £4k but obviously im reading a lot about the 2018 build and im ready for a new car now as the old one is touching 4 years old....when I bought that a new shape came out 6 months later and im sure 6 months after the 2018 build there will be another.............my question is if I decided and I have obviously only paid a deposit could I change for a velar now or would the dealer not do this?

As long as your car has not gone in to build I see no issue you in you changing your order to whatever you like. Have a word with the sales manager not your salesman

I think it has gone to build last week as we asked about some changes to colours and was told it was too late.

RRSman how did you cancel yours when it was built and delivered to showroom? SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

TDV8HST- the chaps at Park Royal James and his troops look after me well - I have bought many cars from them and have introduced many family and friends to them - when I say many I mean I am pretty much their highest selling salesman this year

Wainy - have a word with the sales manager and explain your situation - if you did this last month they would have bitten your hand off as many punters would have wanted a car before the tax rise - may be a bit harder for them to shift it now!

Ok i see, you are a great customer plus a few spins round block in the 458 and you can do what ever....

Also as you have the most knowledge here on the Velar you are probably helping them sell even more!  SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

obviously changes happen at all times.....but should the discount have been greater maybe?

There were dealers on CarWow giving up to 6.5% off on new RRS orders last month - not sure what the current scenario is but you can stick your spec in and see what offers come up. It's a pretty painless way to get a discount on a car. Furthermore if you took out finance you would have got a £2000 finance contribution from JLR as well.

yeah me too and theres always the possibility of keeping for a year then changing?

So you only got £2k off your order then? That is actually what 3.5% if you don't take in to consideration the finance contribution?

it came out 4100 discount from the full quoted price which I thought was ok not knowing a new model was imminent.

It's a pretty decent discount - enjoy the car in good health
