RallyX,

What did you get to drive and what did you think of it? Obviously made a good impression on you!

There was no driving, just a mini launch of the Velar, they had 2 to look at, both R-dyamic's. There was then a tour of the factory, which was awesome. I may be wrong, but I would guess there isn't really any 'drivable' vehicles built yet, only a few prototypes/pre-production, which public wouldn't be allowed to drive. Production is starting soon though. 2012 RRS SDV6

Sounds like a fab day..... slightly jealous !!! My dealer also said that things are starting soon, so exciting times ahead. Do you know what you're spec'ing up? Did you see enough today to help you decide? Engine, trim, colourways?

I'm looking at R-dynamic SE with a D240 engine. I always thought I'd want the 3 litre, but there are several reasons to choose this one, which was explained quite well.

Yes, you see enough I would say, shame they didn't have a standard Velar, e.g. not a R-dynamic, but I don't think I would consider one anyway.

Here is my build if you want to have a look: http://buildyour.landrover.com/lr2/r/summa...b_vplc0318 2012 RRS SDV6

Your spec looks great and that's a nice healthy options list! What did they say about the reasons to go for 2L and did you not consider air suspension on the D240?

Phew, just got home from a fantastic day in Solihil and then later catching up with a few local friends from around there for a big fat meal Very Happy

As others said above - there were three cars on display today - One Full Fat in the Matte Flux Silver, One HSE Dynamic in Corris Grey and one SE in Firenze Red with Black pack. There were no S spec cars available to view - not surpising as we wer told in the presentation that 85% of orders received so far are for the higher spec cars!

It was confirmed to me by their on site specialist that only the 3 litre Dynamic R get's the square exhausts tips and all the others get black down facing pipes.

It was a productive day as the dealers do not have the leather and paint samples as yet so got to see what a black pack actually looks like (it's gloss black like on the Evoque rather than Matte Black like on the RRS) and also got to see the Navy Blue top spec windsor leather in person which I thought looks fantastic.

The fit and finish of the car really was fantastic.

The factory tour was great although the factory was closed today there were loads of cars on the production line and many built up Velars in lower spec scattered around the factory in various places in various colours (got to see white, byron blue, carpathian grey, corris grey, and flux silver but no black cars that I saw today.

The most surprising aspect for me was to see the F Pace's and Various spec RRS all being built on the same production lines! There was F pace, RRS, RRS, F pace, F pace, RRS etc - in no particular order or spec! We were told the car's are built as orders come in - no car panels are pre-painted etc and the car is only ever actually built up once an order is received unlike many other manufacturers who just build various cars and specs and have them "ready made".

We also got to see some lovely history of the company and some classic cars on display in a newly built wing in their factory which is not yet open on the public - we were ginny pigs trying it out for them!

It was confirmed that production begins end April/Early may with deliveries beginning from end August/early September Thumbs Up

Right I'm off to the configurator now as some more playing around to do corris, white, corris white, arghhhh dilemma! Mr. Green

Many thanks RRSman for the info on the square R-dynamic exhausts. Would be interested to know what you thought of the Byron Blue, as I'm half considering it with a black roof and possibly black pack - but only if it looks impressive.....

Glad that you seem taken with the Navy upholstery, as that's the one I'm interested in too. From all you've said previously, it sounds really classy.

Anyhow, sounds like a great day was had. Enjoy your configurating!

Sounds like you all had a great day.
A high spec Velar is very close to a FFRR, AB even when you apply discount. That makes the choice very hard.
Then there is the face lifted Sport round the corner too so will just have to wait and see ! SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

There is no discount on the Velar - not a penny off and yes all the other products are currently being discounted but I wonder why?!

I think it's the start of inflated JLR prices - all products will most certainly go up in value. I can see a RRS HSE starting from £70k now all day.

The Velar does though move the game on IMHO.

Byron blue is just about the only colour that looks exactly like what it looks like on the configurator! It's a Grey with a tinge of Blue in it - nice "mature" colour.
