No I am not getting fed up, I appreciate the input.
I don't think there is any damage otherwise the fault wouldn't be intermittent, but I will certainly proceed with caution. Strange how these cars are supposed to be so rugged but the electrics systems are so fragile.
The post about your dash cam is great, you pull your switched live from the same fuse I identified, so that's reassuring that I chose the right one.
Apparently my Hawkeye needs updating to read the PDC, My dad bought the reader and it never had an update while he owned it so I will get onto them today about doing that.

I recently had a rear parking sensor issue.
The entire parking sensor system and rear camera stopped working and the amber light on the parking sensor button was flashing.
The sensor showed as a fault when read with an OBD scanner.
Once I replaced the sensor, everything worked fine again.
