Long travel on brake pedal

I have a 2012 RRS sdv6 which I bought from the main dealer 2 months ago which is fantastic apart from having a lot of travel on the brake pedal before they start to do anything. If I press the pedal then release and re press then it's firm from the top as I would expect it to be.

Tonight I started the car and pumped the brakes till firm but if you hold the pressure on the pedal drops nearly to the floor.

Is this normal in the sport or should the pedal be firm when you hit the brakes ?
Spoke to the dealer today and explained the issue to be told they can't book it in to look at it till 24/04/17. 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

Simple one: call LR Assist and they will come out to you and inspect it. You've paid for it as part of the deal.

No car should have that problem with the brakes. Definitely a fault. And dangerous. Sounds like a rubber seal has gone somewhere.
Absolutely get it looked at. Robin

It's had quit a bit of travel on the brakes ever since I picked the car up but the brakes work ok so just thought that's how they are but my dad drove it and said he didn't think he was going to stop the first time he hit the pedal as it dropped so far before the brakes worked

I test drove 3 cars before buying this one but can't remember if they were all like it to know if they all have a long pedal. 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

Call LR Assist. It's part of your Approved Used Warranty. If they deem it dangerous then it will be recovered to dealer and made a priority. You will be given a loan car. They will want that loan car back ASAP so they prioritise the work on yours.

Its not so much the long travel (although that's still a bit of a problem) - more concerning IMHO is the fade when you keep pressure on the brake peddle. Shouldn't happen. Robin

Will give them a call this morning. Just didn't want to make a fuss about it to find theirs nothing wrong with it and they are all like that.
Thought the dealer would of said to pop by so they can get a tech to try it but just got told they can't look for a month. 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior

Ridiculous.

That is a safety critical situation and the Dealer should have been over it like a rash.

Tell LR Assist you are really (REALLY) worried about the brakes failing completely, that should speed things up. And if the pedal does sink to the floor, they will, and not at a time you choose. You and your family are at risk here, get annoyed about it! MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Totally supports Wilf's view here - and the dealer should take it off the road straight away and provide a courtesy car for you in the meantime. If they can't do it for a month then that's their problem not yours. Trading Standards springs to mind if you don't get an immediate favourable response Robin

Land Rover assistance are coming out today to look at it. They offered the AA in under 90 mins but thought I would wait for the Land Rover tech as they should know more about it that the AA.

LR Assist have been out and confirmed the brakes work ok but we're concerned about the amount of travel on the pedal before they start to do anything so it's now on its way to the dealer with my dad to pick up a courtesy car.

Will wait for a report back on what they find. 2017 SVR. SVO Scafell grey Ebony interior
