first time poster, newby etc etc. Apologies in advance if I'm in the wrong spot or haven't used the correct codes in my post..

Just moved back to the UK after living in HK and picked up a 2011 RRS HSE TDV6 from a family friend and it is and has been an exceptional vehicle. Apart from a service the only item/s required to be replaced over the last 12 months have been the bushes, it was squeaking like a dogs chew toy.

Long story short.... had a dreaded flat tyre the other day and I took particular attention to ensure I followed the correct procedure as set out in the manual to prepare the vehicle appropriately before jacking the vehicle etc...

Ever since the new tyre was fitted back onto the 20" there's been no end of regarding the Air Suspension leading me on a merry dance to the asylum. I read, re-read and then re-read the instructions but something doesn't seem to be clicking with either myself, the RRS or a combination of both.

Whenever I try to take the car out of our forecourt the pump kicks in and raises the height of the car, or lowers the height of the car and it's as smooth as silk. Once I park my car at my destination and then return to it, same thing happens.

How am I able to lock the height into Normal Mode and simply be done with it?

Apart from that, the RRS is a great drive, commanding on the road and goes like the proverbial off a shovel. The wife got herself a new Q7 and rarely do we ever swap cars, she got the new car because I'm a firm believer of 'Happy Wife, Happy Life'...

One word of caution though about the RRS I discovered..... never spill milk in it. it has been smelling like a yoghurt factory for the last couple of months no matter any attempt to eradicate it. And yes, I did cry over spilt milk at the time.

If however the car raises alot when starting the car in the morning, there is a leak.


Never good to spill milk in any car.

It's a natural formula. Doesn't smell great but works on the smell to remove

On the carpet I took some garden stuff to the tip and something leaked in the boot. Took me weeks to get rid of the smell. Finished up pulling al, the tool tray, false floor and cover out of it and leaving it all day with it open to air it

When you jacked the car did you jack it in the correct jack position on the chassis or jack it under the the nearby air compressor - in the heat of the moment many people have jacked the car on the compressor causing issues rather than under the chassis. The plastic lower case of the compressor has a hole in it like the chassis has.

Seems odd that you start having air compressor issues just after jacking - don't believe in coincidences.

I was all over that like a rash. I noticed the same thing whilst I was looking for the correct jack position when I took the wheel off....

I'm thinking it's more of a settings issue, why there simply can't be a button that says 'normal' and be done with it is beyond me.

I will report back once I get it down to my local LR specialist, no doubt it'll be something ridiculous and I'll be in the top 10 for 'idiot customer of the year award' at their christmas function.

There was a post somewhere on Disco3 forum about different sized tyres on same axle causing issues...

I'd follow up on the 'different sized tyres' comment... having recently read a thread which touched on funny gearbox behaviour and the gearbox not shifting when it was supposed to, it turned out to be that the tyres, despite being the same specified size, were from different manufacturers and turned out to be about an inch different in diameter IIRC! Basically the car thought it was cornering so applied its usual 'gearchange whilst conrnering' rules.

I've been having issues with traction control kicking in unnecessarily on right hand corners, so after reading the above I went out to measure the height of my tyres as I knew the two front tyres were different brands... low and behold, both 285/35R22's, yet one was about 12mm bigger in diameter than the other. I should add at this point I've not yet trialled the theory by swapping the front/rear wheels - but it now sounds plausible.... and I'm guessing if you've had a puncture you may well have mismatched tyres left vs right?

That said... whether this would in fact impact the air suspension settings I'm not sure, but it'd be worth 5mins of your time to look into it.

Back in 2006 some milk was spilled in my car back in Canada. I still have the car when I travel back and yes to this day I can still smell milk when it's hot inside!! 2018 Telsa MS

Hi Wallaby, I had a leak sounds similar to yours check out a guy called Gruodiz on this site he sold me a great piece of kit and fixed the problem at a fraction of the cost
