HELP!!!! Can't turn engine off, even when key removed!

2005 RRS 4.4 SC
Everything has gone pear shaped after I did a couple of simple things and now I can't turn the engine off even when I have removed the key from the ignition. Also the stereo, sat nav, air con and dashboard display stay on permanently when engine is off and key removed. Key is no longer recognised with central locking and i have an amber (P) light staying on next to the red (P) EPB symbol which wasn't there before (but the red one goes on and off as it should).
Everything was working fine until today.
Here is what I did;
Faulty NS brake light bulb replaced with off the shelf one (I have since heard this can cause problems)
Was replacing interior light fuse under the passenger glove box, as i had blown it fitting LED interiors and I pulled out the wrong fuse by mistake (F28 Fusebox Engine Compartment - ignition).
I immediately put it back (stupidly I hadn't disconnected the battery) and the engine started without the key in ignition!
I tried to insert key and turn it off but it wouldn't do anything. All i could now do was pull the fuel pump fuse and wait for it to cut out.
I have tried ECU reset but whatever I do, if the battery is connected and key nowhere near the ignition the sat nav, air con, stereo and dashboard lights all stay on.
Also the car is immobilised and key won't work to start it although the AA man managed to get it started but we couldn't turn it off again!
We have plugged in diagnostics and had 3 error codes U0167 "Lost communication with vehicle immobiliser control module", U0426 "Invalid data received from vehicle immobiliser control module" and P0513 "Incorrect immobiliser key".
Has anybody else had similar or know what it can be???
Also would it be something and auto electrician could fix (i.e. programming etc) or does it sound like a damaged module.
Thanks for any help, this one is baffling me!! 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

Park it somewhere sensible.

Could be the ignition relay under the bonnet stuck together. Remove it.

The one with the key symbol. I guess

Thanks Andy K.
Are you saying remove it while engine is running to see if it stops or just remove it and replace it? 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

If you can't stop the engine remove it and see what happens.

I wouldn't suggest pulling anything while the engine is running. You may inadvertently cause a voltage spike to an ECU, which will cause you an even bigger headache than you already have...

Thanks for your replies.
I know i can stop the engine by pulling the fuel pump so i'll stick with that in case it screws up the ECU as Disco_Mikey says. I only need to get it back home tomorrow and then to the local Indy.
I have taken the relay out as per Andy K's suggestion and had a look but it all seems ok.
Not sure if it's a "software" thing or hardware. 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

not fixed yet sonnyjim,
I now know how to start it (put key in ignition position 2) and reconnect battery.
So at least i can get it home today and then have to book it in.
I'll update this post if/when it gets fixed in case it helps someone else out in the same situation. 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

Thanks Devon, at least I got it home today. Cleaned up the contact on the starter relay and left the battery disconnected overnight (otherwise everything stays on). Reconnected the battery this morning and the amber Parking Light had gone but the airbag light was on. Thought it might have reset itself, drove home ok but still can't turn it off with the key.
Had a spare key at home that I tried but the same issue!
Will have to book it in my local Indy and report back!
Have learned my lesson, don't even change the radio station without getting a specialist to do it!!!!

So the car has been into my local indy and they have run the diagnostics.

Seems like me pulling fuse 28 and the reconnecting whilst battery was connected has fried the BCM hence why everything has gone haywire.

Although they are a reputable place and do a really god job especially on RR's they are quoting £1,700 Big Cry (ouch!) for a new BCM configured by LR and fitting (I guess most of that is labour).

Although i'm p Censored d about it, firstly it is my own dumb fault and secondly they found quite a few faults which meant that eventually I could have been tearing my hair out trying to find different problems which could all be caused by the BCM which ultimately could end up costing more.

I did ask if I could fit a second hand one as I have seen them about but they reckon it has to be configured by LR for my car, immobiliser, etc

Anyway, lesson learned the hard way, but I hope it will give me many years of trouble free ownership after this Bow down

Should get it back later this week and will be bubble wrapping it and burying it in a big hole so that I can't f Censored k up again anytime soon! 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

For future reference, a 2nd hand BCM cannot be reconfigured. It must be matched with the the PCM to enable/disable the immobiliser Thumbs Up

Thanks Disco_Mikey, that puts my mind at rest with what the local indy has told me despite conflicting info on the net. 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue
