I agree in principle, and certainly my original concerns were partly based on the misconception that the whole £3,000 came from JLR, but there a couple of points you are missing The 6% (which is off ex-works price and equivalent to about 4.5% of the on-the-road price) was an increase of £1,500 on my original deal because I stuck with the order even though they missed a couple of vital options off by mistake between the in-house order and the works order. The deposit contribution came with the finance, but the dealer said effectively that I couldn't combine two 'offers', which sounds fair enough, but I can't help feeling that the extra £1,500 'compensation' I received has thus disappeared in the process. This is not to mention that Guy Salmon in Sheffield offered 6% discount even without having made a mistake if I switched to them. So, a good deal, yes, but ultimately no better than it had been for me for sticking with my order after their mistake. Also, I know of a person on here who has 'had their cake and ate it' by having 6% AND the full £3,000, and another who got 6% plus over £1,000 of freebies without taking JLR finance.
Anyway, it's water under the bridge now as I've taken delivery of the car (and already cancelled the finance).
