Squeeky Brakes!!!

Help!!! I purchased a Jan 2013 Autobiography in September and at the same time purchased some 22 inch Hawke Halcyon wheels which I put straight on. Pretty much straight away the brakes were squeeking. The sound often occurs when starting up and also when shuffling around whilst parking, i.e. lots of short sharp braking and wheel turning.

I took it into my local LR dealer, they were aware of a problem and replaced the discs and pads, however the problem remained.

I took it back in a week later, they had it 3 days, still no solution, they said they'd made some adjustments and I'll notice an improvement, however as they are non LR wheels I can always expect some "noise", I thought what a load of rubbish! I ignored the noise until January then took it to another dealer for its 3 year service in January, so raised the issue with them, they did the same replacing the discs and pads, and you guessed it the problem still remains!!!

I'm really not sure which way to turn? I've spoken to Hawke who've advised they've heard of nothing similar and the noise isn't anything to do with the wheels, its the brakes!

I found a topic on the forum from September 2016 which appears to be exactly the issue I have, however it comes to an abrupt end and none of the vehicle owners posting seemed to get any sort of conclusion.

I've spoken to the central LR customer service team who've advised to book it in again.

Any help or guidance would be most welcome!

Is it Brembo callipers? If so, they all do it. I know that's a salesman line, but I'm definitely no sales man! Both of our cars have Brembo callipers and they both squeak at low speed / low pressure on peddle. I know lots of rally cars that run Brembo's and they all squeak. 2012 RRS SDV6

Yes, they're Brembo callipers. Surely the noise can't be acceptable? It drives me mad, may be some people can live with it but it's embarrasing! I'm always getting the attention of passers by, for all the wrong reasons!!!

I've got Brembos and I've not had a squeal in a year of motoring. (Older car, I know but...)

Might be a long shot but did it start with the new wheels you fitted? In other words are you sure it's not the new wheels fouling on the calipers? Or was it there before? Take a wheel off and see if theres evidence of any scraping on the inside if the wheel. Robin

Brembo's on mine since day one, I've had mine five years and they have never squeaked.
You could try and put a bit of copper slip between the pads and the backing plate, i did this on my wifes Vauxhall when they started to make a squeaking noise. 07,TDV8,Black, Black Heated leather all round, Rear Entertainment with Headpones & Remote, TV, DVD, Pure Dab Digital Radio, Sidesteps, Adaptive Headlights, sunroof, now working fuel burning heater Smile)))

My car developed squeaky brakes from new after about 1000 miles, at low speed braking and without braking at all, just on rotation. Returned to Dealership who modified new pads and fitted.

This lasted a while, squeak free until I noticed a technical bulletin on Topix.
LTB00592v7 which came out on 26th July 2016. I asked my Dealership about it and they said that Brembo have supplied a different make up of pad to Land Rover because of the issue. I requested these "new" pads to be fitted and, touch wood, no problems whatsoever.

Please note I've not had any work done on the discs and this problem had only been on the front wheels.

Maybe this may help. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
