The plan view makes it look great............... there is an awkward bit of the side view that looks odd though - where the spoiler meets the Coupe-esque rear hatch. I would be particularly interested in the rumoured 2.0ltr petrol + plug in hybrid "Milk Float" edition if there is one available at launch, but a 3.0ltr S/C would Do me fine too as am a bit concerned about what the future is for diesel engined cars, even though the SDv6 is a peach of an engine. The headlight in the "SVR" version look very similar to the LED units from the new Disco5

I've expressed interest too - now just need to see it on 1st March to know if it's for me or not....really depends how much bigger it is than the Evoque... |

What platform is this based on - Evoque or RRS? As any early adopter of the RRS (Oct-13) - aka test pilot / product developer / mug - I'm inclined to give the Velar a wide berth until it has been under day-to-day public development for at least 12 months ... which is a bit of a shame as it might be just the right size for me, the wife and our whippet (i.e. No kids to haul around).

Neither - it will use the F-Pace floor pan and have longitudinal not transverse engines, which means it will be able to have all the current RRS engines and whatever Ingenium 6 cylinder engines come as well as the 2ltr PHEV mentioned elsewher in the forum. F Pace will lead the change to Ingenium Petrol engines next model year. I think it will have a lot of the bits we know and love from our RRS's apart from the bodywork. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Why are you tempted by one, Tim? Wouldn't you lose some of the capability of your RRS and the space? |

I don't use the space as I'm single and rarely carry passengers, have run an Evoque Coupe and an Evoque 5 door and they were really a bit small and I ended up with a set of roof rails and a rooftop carbuncle to carry the extra luggage when I wanted to take friends on touring trips more than a day long.

It certainly looks a nice design, possibly the best rendition yet of Range Rover design cues. |

If it really looks like that then LR have lost the plot. That front end is pure ugly. Looking at it, I think someone has used an Audi as a base for a photoshop attempt. The grille etc. just looks wrong on that image. More silly, pointless plastic fake "bonnet vents" a la RRS2 and Evoque. Why? They are awful and tacky. Surely the designer who hates roof boxes wouldn't sign off on something as crass as these "vents"? As for "classy"? Hah! That is one tacky, horrible, Jordan of a car. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |
