United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Santorini Black
2010 RR Supercharged Autobiography spare wheel nicked

quick question and i'm sure an easy answer for someone -
my spare wheel on my sport has been nicked , luckily not the car , as the local police put a leaflet through my door to tell me that 50% of all cars in london stolen are LR and RR !
i am prepared and have bought a big round lump of steel to put under the wheel, however the car is with the insurer's repairers and they are telling that they have spoken to LR and the are saying that the official replacement wheel is a steel wheel as the auto biog wheel doesn't fit ? I may be going mad but i'm sure the wheel was an alloy under the back and why would people nick a steel wheel ...
i think its an insurance conspiracy ? can any one please help, as the car shop have got my car, ive got a 1.1 fiesta and ive had a hell of a row with them today !
thank you very much , i'd be really grateful for some help on this ....

It has happened to a few of us on here - I even recorded the Censored on my dash cam - old bill was impressed & the pictures was shown in the local rag - guess what - no one ever got caught Big Cry

My current spare wheel is an Autobiography alloy with 275/40/20 tyre & it does fit. It is protected by a RLD spare wheel protector purchased from the guy who makes them on this forum.

Your issue may be that the insurance is only going to pay for the correct replacement as per the factory spec Big Cry BUT the alloy will FIT Wink

Good luck Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

They're not steel wheels but a smaller alloy.
If you check with your VIN on Topix it should say if you had a full sized spare from factory as I believe it was an option.
If its on the build sheet the insurance will have to honour it.

If I'm honest the spare wheel that I replaced was used & cheaper than a new steel spare wheel. If you do end up with a steel spare - look for a one off that matches your other 4. I appreciate its a cost that you shouldn't be liable for - was there any excess - I repaired - replaced mine for about £400 which included a newer anti theft winch ( these are cut by the robbing Censored ) a matching alloy & decent make tyre Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Mine has a steel space saver spare. I had my iron monger make a steel tubes to cover the chain cost nearly nothing and is now safe. And yes these space savers dogged nicked as well. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

Whereabouts in London?

After my rear lights were pinched the other day, getting a bit nervous now for easy pickings and a wheel protector is on its way. Would be just my luck to have it stolen in the time it takes to arrive...
