Actual percentage of engine failures?

Having picked up my 2012 3.0 sdv6 at the weekend I've seen loads of posts since regarding shell and crank failure.
Any one know what sort of percentage have failed compared to the amount sold ?

Just thinking have I just bought a ticking time bomb that will fail at some point.

IN the grand scheme of things, I believe the actual figures is around 1% worldwide

The issue is JLR's Censored poor attitude towards any goodwill gesture if it does go wrong...

I bought mine from a main dealer mainly to get their warranty so I'm good for 2 years then Thumbs Up think I will be extending the warranty in month 23 as don't fancy the £12k bill for an engine.

Has anyone had much luck with goodwill gestures? My crank snapped last week (2010, 69000 miles) and I'm having conversations with Land Rover at the moment and they think they may offer 20% on a 16 grand bill. Has anyone got any recent experience of this issue? I've read that there was a fault in the manufacturing process of the engine so I'd just like to know if it's worth fighting for more?

Thanks

Ben

£16,000 for a new engine?
You can get a reman for around £3,000 Just bought a RRS 06 MY HSE TDV6 136,000 miles, to be a second car to my bland, boring Mitsubishi Outlander 68 plate 2.0 petrol 4

Am I being unreasonable for wanting them to pay more then 20% or am I likely to even be offered anymore? Just seems a bit unfair that they were built wrong and now I have to pay for the mistake. I understand that the car is getting on a bit but feel it's a bit extreme for the engine. I will try and get a bit more from them.

Definitely don't fancy a recon engine!

Has anyone heard of dragon engines in chesterfield? Good/bad?

Thanks

It is typical Censored poor customer relations on JLR's behalf - they seem to think that nobody knows anyone else who has had an engine failure due to the design fault and that individuals are not willing to take on a large corporation in the courts to get their entitlement. Volkswagen Group is now learning that the very very hard and expensive way with European owners who are seeking compensation for being misled............... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I will say it again.
It's not JLRs engine. It's Fords.
That's life.
If you think JLR are any different any other manufacturer you are mistaken Just bought a RRS 06 MY HSE TDV6 136,000 miles, to be a second car to my bland, boring Mitsubishi Outlander 68 plate 2.0 petrol 4

Does it matter whose engine it is? It's fitted and sold by land rover. So it's their responsibility. Whether they choose to pay someone else (Ford) to provide a warranty, or take on that liability themselves, should make no difference to the customer/user.

If the engine has a fault which means it could have a premature failure, it's LR's issue (and reputation). Merc C220 estate Sport AMG
