Loads of water and no power steering

Hi Lads

need your help, I'm working away from home this week and the wife rang saying the car has broke down, luckily just turning onto the driveway

so, 2007 RRS HSE, as she was pulling onto the driveway she notice a massive load of steam coming from under the bonnet, (Temp gauge was normal) then an immediate loss of power steering,
limped it 3-4 meters onto the drive and switched it of, she said the driveway was completely soaked as it has appeared to have dumped the entire coolant contents !!!!

what the hell do you think has happened, I'm thinking auxiliary belt has snapped (power steering loss) and somehow split a hose during it snapping !! Possible ???

HELP!!!! 2007 RRS HSE

Don't drive it.
Do you have AA or RAC ? Get them out to inspect and diagnose issue if you have.

Might just be a hose and belt - can you ask wifey to FaceTime / Skype so you can try and see for yourself..? Visitor from fullfatrr.com

The steering going and water everywhere means the auxilary belt has either gone or the tensioner, the fact that it was only driven for a short period should mean all is well (depending on what has broken to cause the leak).
I've not heard of it, but it could be the bearing has collapsed in the water pump. That would cause your leak and loss of steering.

Seen a few water pumps collapse, throwing the belt off Thumbs Up

Good news is its a relatively cheap repair

Hi guys

Right its a long story but the garage has still not collected the car for repair, they are collecting in the morning, i have had chance to have a proper look as to what has failed.

so with a torch looking down from the top of the engine between the rad and the lump i nearly had a heat attack !!!
the entire water pump is laying at the bottom!!!!!! i can see 2 sheered bolts laying next to it, the belt isn't snapped just all wrapped and tangled, 2 of the fins on the fan are damaged etc,

what in gods name would make that happen ???

cheers 2007 RRS HSE
