Range Rover Sport plug-in hybrid spotted

Quote:
Range Rover Sport spotted testing near Land Rover HQ with plug-in hybrid powertrain

We already know that Jaguar Land Rover is planning a wide-ranging roll-out of plug-in vehicle tech over the coming years, including electrification for the Range Rover line-up, but now we've had our first look at the PHEV model.

Our spy photographers have caught the car testing outside the Gaydon HQ, with the Range Rover Sport model seen testing with a high-voltage sticker in the front and rear windows. Another snap taken during testing in the US shows the charging port, which is located under the badge on the grille.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

It's a teaser, LR bought the stickers and transfers on the Bay of Fleas and stuck a plastic flap on the front grille to fool the motoring press................. I wrote to them and told them that I thought that they were mad not having a launch PHEV version of the Velar so maybe some one has listened. Tthat car will be available with an all up weight of 1800kgs in some models would make sense to have it available as a PHEV or even pure electric car at launch................ reply - Jaguar is launching the I Pace in 2018, inference being that LR wouldn't spoil Jaguar's new car launch............ Jaguar doesn't contribute a large amount of profit to JLR so why bother about messing up their plans? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW
