United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
key fob issue

Right chaps

so got the new car (2007rrs HSE) the key fobs both worked fine, unlocking/locking ect, but were in really poor condition, si from flea bay got 2 new cases, bit tricky but changed them and they look great, then, because in silly thought (hmmmm, being 2007) the rechargeable batteries must be getting tired, i know ill change them !!!

so ordered the correct batteries and decided to do one ( make sure it works ok then do the other)

so de-soldered the battery, fitted the new one and hey presto !!! it DIDNT work, it would start the car but would not lock or unlock the doors, i sweated a little, but thought maybe the battery was flat, so started the car with the key and we drove it about that day, here and there, that evening i tried to lock the car with the key and it worked, tried it several times and worked every time.

i didn't then move on to the other key as i thought caution may be the name of the game, so though id leave it a week or so before doing the other key just to make sure that the key i had changed the battery in was going to work without issue over a few days.

however it will now not lock or unlock the doors again, the key starts the car as before but will not unlock / lock the doors.

so looked online and tried the, (ignition on <5sec. hold unlock, press lock 3 times ect but this didn't fix it either.

can anyone help !!!????

kindest regards 2007 RRS HSE

The battery you installed could be faulty but it sounds as if you haven't given it much opportunity to charge up. Try strapping it to the working fob and running around with it like that for a week. Alternatively, rumour has it that resting the fob against your electric toothbrush charger overnight is effective. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

hi chaps,
just a quick update.

got so annoyed after replacing the battery and it not working so trawled the net and decided to send it to keys2u.co.uk and for a price of £38 they guarantee a full repair to the board, new battery and case if required, i received it back through the postal system in less that 24hrs and it works perfectly. well chuffed. 2007 RRS HSE
