Interestingly on my last car (2011 FFRR ) the laminated rear passenger door cracked, auto glass managed to turn four times with the wrong window, albeit correctly labelled in the end, a call to their global cel, who got uk to call me, and landrover supplied original parts the next day.

Was a royal pain in the ass at the time mind... That will teach me for driving through flood water too quickly...

OEM screen are very difficult to get

Not sure I believe that. Autoglass like to make a big deal out of it because OEM messes with their profits. Three years ago, I had two screens in the space of a month. Both from Autoglass and both OEM and neither was an issue to arrange. Back then there was none of this sucking of teeth. But then there didn't appear to be much in the way of third party glass either. When I phoned them a few weeks ago there was no mention of supply issues; the only thing they talked about was price. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

So my current windscreen has cracked - this is either the third or fourth one!

Insisted that OEM glass used for replacement and after a mini bunfight they agreed. Just come off phone from National windscreens and they say one technician will fit with assistance from a lifting gizmo. Thought this was a two man job? Any idea?

2 hours after collecting new FFRR, some kids threw a stone over wall and cracked windscreen!

Fixed by one man using a lifting arm and suction pads that allows him freedom to position.

I hope that you protested to the parents and asked them to claim on their home insurance for damage caused by their offspring behaving badly. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Left car parked for a hour came back to this - no marks on outside of screen, seems it just decided to crack.

Not looking forward to getting OEM fitted by Autoglass based on experiences in this thread,

Anyone had less/more hassle going through dealer?

I'm still new to RRS ownership, but having read through this thread (& others) I'm left wondering why folk are so keen to replace a broken windscreen with an OEM one. It's not as if they come with rave reviews for durability... Shocked

No experience with a RRS screen replacement but had a none LR screen (Pilkington) fitted to my FL2. Absolutly no problems with the screen or the fitting, done but Autoglass on my drive via LR insurance. Screen was still good when I sold the vehicle 18 months later.

I understand the current situation is if I took the RRS to my LR dealership they would sub it out to an 'approved' screen specialist anyway. Its a fairly small dealership and I would doubt they would have the experience in-house. I have to take the car in for the battery drain software fix soon so I will ask the Service Manager.

Tony, my local dealership Morrisons Land Rover ( a family operated one outlet business) in Bannockburn replaced mine "in house" in their body shop in November, with an OEM one. It was a warranty replacement for a defective heater element on the passenger side, even though I had a small chip in the lower par of the driver's side the heater element for that side still worked fine, which have had something to do with getting a Range Rover branded screen. It is alleged that the Autoglass screen is somewhat less costly than the LR one, it seems to do the job just as well. I'm sure that at the end of the day the screens all come from one of about 3 makers worldwide anyway, Securitvis, Pilkingtons and "China" 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
