Ok, I have read all the horror stories regarding a tappety noise,

ive changed the oil and it makes no difference. I am going to do a diesel purge tomorrow see if that helps but, its got me stumped.

the ticking sounds like a lifter or could be an injector or maybe leaking exhaust gasket or something. Its not overly loudly metallic like a valve or piston slap so i'm starting with all the easier to stomach options first.

can anyone else think of any other things it might be, the 2.7tdv6 is quite noisy anyway and it has 150,000 miles so im not expecting it to be like new, i just don't want it to break down on my wife that's all.

any help greatly appreciated. Does anyone know a mobile LR guy in or around Sheffield?
