United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Sumatra Black
New Buyer - Advice sought, please.

Hi All,

It's taken 30yrs, but i'm now finally in the market for my first RRS!

Like most newbies, i've been doing the rounds on websites etc as to what is probably the best option for my £20k budget. As best i can determine an HSE(my preferred option) 3.0L SDV6 is the one i should be looking for, but they seem rarer than rare. Subsequently, the TDV6 is looking the likely alternative. 2009/10 Reg.

I'm not going to be putting miles on it, probably less than 5k pa.

Reading through some of the postings here, it would seem buying from a trade seller is the least preferred option, but the cheapest RRS on the Approved Used Vehicle Land Rover website is c. £26k Big Cry The nearest trade dealer i have is Ongar Bridge Motor Co, Ongar, Essex. Anyone know if they are any good if thats a route i ultimately need to go down?

Any advice and guidance greatly appreciated.

One last question. MY14 = Year of manufacture?

Good luck with your search. You'll not regret it.

The SDV6 arrived in 2011(?), so not many available at your budget. It would be worth waiting for. But make sure you go for the face lifted model after 2010.

I'd have thought the best chance of a good deal is a good independent Land Rover dealer. I've just done a deal to trade in my 2011 HSE for a new model for March delivery and I know that it will go straight to trade, so there will be more out there.

Oh, and MY14 is not necessarily the year of manufacture. Manufacturers announce model years in the Autumn and some could be built in the previous year so MY14 could be a 13 manufacture. Indeed, in my experience, if it's advertised as MY14, it's more likely to have been built in 2013 as there would be no need to mention it on a 2014 car.

MY means it's the spec of that year e.g. if any features have been added.

MY14 will have started rolling off the production line in Autumn of 2013 with first cars registered in late September or October 2013 and there may have had an intermediate refresh in January / February 2014 and become a MY14.5................ LR annouces the "improvements" (sometimes gear gets deleted or upgraded) June/ July of the preceding year - MY2014 changes would be announced in summer 2013. If you're only doing 5K miles pa and especially if doing short trips might be better considering a petrol 5.0litre s/c? Smile

Woodsie...

Thanks. It will defo be mostly short trips with perhaps 3/4 trips to France(North and South) each year and maybe Wales. But unlikely to do much more than 5k pa realistically.

Petrol option as it's less likely to need the big runs that the diesel will need?

(As you can see, I'm no petrol head and the car is a gift to myself for 30yrs hard graft!)

Indebted to you guys for the feedback.

HH.
