Which colour looks best when dirty?

Thinking about chopping in my 2014 HSE SDV6 in Loire Blue for a new HSE Dynamic SDV6. Loire Blue is a lovely colour when its clean and especially in sunlight but it looks dull when its dirty and boy does my car get dirty especially at this time of year. The obvious choice for a colour that wears dirt well is Indus Silver but I've had loads of silver cars in the past. Any other colours I should consider?

Any dark grey usually stands up to dirt well, especially the winter spray. Although cars generally just look dirty in winter after a few miles. I always marvel at the immaculately polished cars I see at this time of the year....how do they do that??

Think I know....I've just returned from Tesco having had the car washed again by the friendly Rumanians who do a super job with Autoglym products.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Corris just becomes matte up to the waistline and gloss above it! So if you want to look like a really weird two tone matte/gloss then Corris or Carpathian would be the colours to go for............. mine can go many weeks at this time of year without a wash except for cleaning number plates and lights. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Firenze Red

My Firenze red also gets mat/gloss on sides, if the dirt is black it tend to hide it, but salt and lighter colour dirt shows up quite a lot. As you say I think silver is the best one, my previous Silver FL2 could go on for weeks without needing a wash.

Yep I agree Firenze isnt all that bad at showing up dirt except where salt is concerned but i would recommend it as a colour if your looking at an alternative.

I find my Scotia grey tends to look nice and clean, until you get up close and realise it's absolutely filthy. 2015 HSE SDV6 Scotia Grey, ebony / lunar, colour coded, deployable steps, TV, sliding pano and a few other bits. Now gone

Aruba - looks great sunny or cloudy, and hides dirt well (not the current muck load tho'.)

I also think white hides road film better than most other colours.

In short, light colours! MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

The Stornoway grey on my RRS1 hides dirt very well. I think greys generally do so. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

My Orkney Grey was pretty good at that. Carpathian is totally opposite, being almost black. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
Gone: MY16 RRS2 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic, Carpathian Grey & Santorini Black Sliding Pano/Ebony & Ivory 2 Tone
Gone: MY13 RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE Black Edition, Orkney Grey/Ivory

Living at the end of a 5k dirt road my white D4 definitely hides the dirt much more than the Red RRS. RRS P460e

Strangely, Yulong white looks ok when it gets dirty, I have a AB in yulong white the stealth pack, and although the dirt does show, it has to be heavy dirty and even then it still looks about 70% as appealing as to when it is clean. IMHO

Comparing that to the supercharged AB (very quick) that I had on loan for a couple of weeks that was in black, looked fantastic when clean, but even light dirt took a lot away from the appearance of the car. Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

Orkney Grey covers the winter grime well, it's the main reason I went for it (as well as looking distinguished when clean) Smile
