Strange noise in the starting procedure

Hi All,

I hope that someone has seen/heard this before!

RRS- 2.7 TDV6 Oct 2005 - EGR NOT Blanked

I have had a strange issue appear and slowly get worse over the last month especially when vehicle is cold. The glow plug light doesn't seem to stay on enough, and as a result the car will not start in colder weather. It remedies itself after leaving the ignition on for a while. this was about 30 seconds to a minute, but this time is getting longer.... to the point being this morning it was near 4 mins.

Please see the video (apologies but this was in the dark Smile @7am)

https://www.dropbox.com/s/m8mw9oq1jnoaxd0/...6.mov?dl=0

watch for the first 40seconds, then if you want to skip to the noise go to 4:08 Smile

I should point out that once started the car performs without fault or issue FBH kicks in and all is good! until I come to start it again when its cooled down.

any help much appreciated.

Chris

Called the RAC out this afternoon as even waiting didnt work Sad

anyway it turns out this noise was a relay latching and unlatching under significant current draw. the culprit was the main ECU relay located at top left as you look at the fuse box next to the battery.

So if anyone else gets this issue, we now have a possible solution. £10 relay!
