Which wheels and tyres are you running on? Your car had the heavy duty steering rack as original equipment as S/C's and NA V8's were delivered from the factory on 20" rims and tyres whereas the lesser spec cars needed a steering rack upgrade for 2005 and 2006MY cars to run 20" wheels........ but if you are running 22" wheels and tyres then you may have a worn steering rack as the car was never designed to run on such extreme size wheels. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

1st I'm not a mechanic or engineer so thinking of other things that you could check - when was the power steering fluid last changed/ checked/topped up, have you noticed any leaks/ oily marks on the drive under the front of the car that could be a leak causing low hydraulic fluid for the steering or any hissing noises when you turn to full lock? The system is usually silent. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Does the steering feel heavy or notchy when turning?

It may just be the brand of tyres that you have, which are tending to follow the road camber. You could experiment a bit with pressures. I like to run 40-45 psi in mine.

Might be worth checking where the wheel balance weights are fixed too. I once had a Jag that the local tyre depot stuck all the weights on the innermost edge of the wheel and the gyroscopic effect made the steering very weird. It drove straight until you started to turn a corner or bend and then the steering wanted to keep on turning that way and was difficult to turn back again. Needless to say I went straight back with it and once the experienced fitter saw what the trainee had done they corrected it without any further issues. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

Apparently the weights should ideally be fitted level with the hub face. Makes sense really 'cos if all the weight is on the inner edge it is probably a good 6 inches or more away from the centre line of the wheel and the gyroscope effect will have an influence. Certainly did on my Jag and that didn't have wheels as wide as the RRS. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.
