United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Rimini Red
Trade in Price

I have committed to a TDv8 in identical spec to my current TDv6 (HSE, Rimini, Ebony, Cherry, tow pack, pti) plus the extra "standards" such as 20in, Dynamic and ACC. Delivery is early December. The price quoted for the TDv8 is £53k and they have "promised" me £40k for my trade in (12 months old by then with 14,000 miles). As she "only" cost £44k thats not a bad depreciation - but £13k to change feels like its a lot more. What the heck - you're a long time dead ...... Shocked

Anyone else had an indicated trade in value yet ? RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Hi Smarticus
I tried to get a price for the TDV8 just yesterday from Guy Salmon in Maidstone and was told RR had not yet released a price or delivery date and that they wouldnt even see their demo until November.
Are you sure the price is correct and December is safe as I have a TDV6 on order for December and would consider the change.
Regards
JOhn

99% sure. I know the dealer really well and they work very closely with Landrover. I have had my name down for a TDv8 since the day I heard about it, and as far as I know LR opened the book for firm orders on allocated build dates about 4 weeks ago. Landrover constantly seem to delay issuing price lists until after they start taking orders and this causes their dealers a lot of problems. Ask any dealer about the Freelander where there still isn't a price list available but yet orders are being taken. The dealers hate this situation and they are sure it loses them business, but LR obviously think that they can keep the competition guessing, assess likely demand and therefore maximise their ultimate returns by leaving it till the very last minute to commit to a price. I feel sure you could get a firm order on a TDv8 right now for December or January delivery if you rang around a few dealers. RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

How did you manage to buy an HSE with all those extras for just £44k? Mine was £44.5 as standard and by the time I added PTI, dynamic pack, privacy glass and side steps it ended up at around £49k New RRS

I think smarticus is referring to the "standard must have extras" for his newly ordered TDV8

Smarticus thats a mint trade in guarantee..
Will they put that in writing?
I got £40k for my 12 month old one , but only managed to get 39 for another we helped dispose of after that.. i think they must be one of these wholesale buyers so have more of a margin to work from! cool, if you can get it though, well done.

I have been asking for a trade in value on mine, no one and I mean NO ONE will give me a price on trading it against anything, Landrover, BMW.....

They say it's too new and not in 'the book' yet.

Sounds fishy to me. L319 D4 HSE

I was working out trade-in values for mine the other day and somewhere was able to do it.... now, you want me to tell you where it was. I think it might have been Parkers - I know it's not a trade guide as such, but they at least had the figures loaded.

Surely any good dealer worth their salt will be able to assess what any vehicle will command on their forecourt. Ok so this dealer is looking ahead to late November / early December, but they have just serviced mine and know it is mint, looks great and therefore will attract people who "want one now" and simply wont wait. They will no doubt put it right up the ramp, almost overhanging the main road that passess outside their dealership, yards from the M6, with a window sticker of £41,995 or similar. They would then expect a buyer at £41k within 2 weeks. Add that £1k profit (as they have no service to do or warranty to add) to the £2k or £3k they make on dealing me a TDv8 (and keeping one of their best customers happy to boot - I have had a TD5, a RR, a D3 and a RRS off them in the last few years - as well as recommending them to dozens of other customers who are totally Censored off with the rabble who sell Landies in Newcastle) and it makes great sense to them.

At least I hope it does ...... Smile RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

You sure about this guys? i know the TDV6 was allegedly booking now, it wasn't in Dec/Jan when i checked, and people were pulling figures out of their arse, with one guy offering me a "STRONG" Bid at: £32,000 (Prick)..

However, when i disposed in April, it still wasn't booking, but was about to from May onwards, and when we sold PaulL's we were definitely getting book prices from traders, the best being £39k buy in. Hence i don't really know, but i was getting the same 'book' price off a few guys, and ended up selling to pacific (same guys who bought mine) as they had already 'placed' pauls with another client, so gave slightly more then book.

However Smarticus, i do concur, any trader should beable to make an educated guess, or simply do what they all try every now and then, and give you a price which takes the Censored !! (like my £32k chap..!)
