Side steps - metal strip dropped off!

I still have the metal strip that has dropped off one of the side steps. Can these be reattached or is it a case of replacing? RRS 3.0 SDV6 HSE 2012 Santorini Black

Drill out the old rivets and reattach using self tapping screws
You can add a few extra to make it stronger Thumbs Up

Sorry to butt in...

My youngest bairn struggles climbing in the RRS so I'd like the side steps, but it's that silver strip that puts me off getting them as personally for me, I think it would look awful (with my colour). But if it's just a case of drilling rivets then I could remove and paint them? I've never seen an RRS with them on up close and door open, so can someone let me know if they are actually of any use for people to use as a step to help get in, and out, and not just another bit of bling? I'm hoping they might save the scuffing of the door sill aswell?

Thanks

I use the steps all the time to get in and out. And I'm 6ft

There isn't much of the surface area for the rear access though, but kids should cope fine

Yep, the strip can be taken off and painted. I got mine powder coated to match my wheels. I'll post a pic tomorrow when it's light.
They are definitely a use when getting in and out of the car - my little girl couldn't get in without them! And they are a proper step, not decoration

Thanks folks, good to know they are real steps. Some decisions to make then I guess.

Andy K, I like the colour matched mud flaps, I also don't have them fitted but by the look of the 'sandblasting' effect starting to show on the skirt and rear bumper paint then they'd probably be a good idea.

Here's the photo, as promised! Sorry, she's a bit dirty, but you can see the sidestep trim isn't as bright as the normal chrome ones.

They look nice when the steps match the wheel colour

Yes, very nice. My wheels are the diamond cut RRS type but the laquer has peeled so starting to corrode. I might try and hurry deciding what colour to powder coat then get the side step matched aswell. I think trying to colour match the car might be too much?
