One of those door locking /unlocking questions.

Ok folks I'm on my second RRS now 1st one I had for all on 6 years,I thought I had got used to all their quirks Laughing This one has a strange "problem"with the rear O/S door.
The door locks and unlocks fine apart from when it's drive away locked, when I come to a stop the door won't open?If I stop the car lock it using the pad on the handle, then try opening the back door it works fine.
I know I can disable the drive away locking feature that I presume would negate the issue but it bugs me one door is not working as it should.
I probably know the answer is a new locking mechanism but just thought I'd ask to see if anyone else has suffered this one.I have searched but most reported problems just seem to be total failure, which I had with two doors on my last car.
Cheers
Happy New Year to you all
Steve

You have already checked that the 'kiddylock' is not in the locked position of course.

There are some good guides mostly on the Dicso3 site describing how good results were obtained by stripping down the latch motors and either cleaning the commutators and brushes or even fitting a new motor obtainable on eBay for a fiver. Obviously that's only an option if you live up to your user name. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

The key fob will dead(super)lock the car and unlock.

Drive away locking will just lock and unlock

that will be the difference.

Thanks for your replys.I was under the impression that if you pressed the key fob or the door handle once that would just lock the car,not deadlock it,so strictly speaking the same as drive away locking?
Below is what I have tried whilst fault finding this issue
Car 1st stage locked, walk up to it the door opens
Car deadlocked,the same as above
Drive away lock function operated, stop the car, rear door won't open via the handle.
Drive away lock function operated, stop the car, rear door won't open, lock the car rear door opens?

On the early RRS1 the first fob press deadlocks.

The later ones they reversed it to the more usual 2nd press for deadlock

Hi,
if the other rear door works fine then it would suggest the lock motor/mechanism Question
try a clean and lube of the workings

Thumbs Up
