Only my left one is throbbing - normal?

Over the Christmas season I've put on a few hundred motorway miles with almost no stop-start traffic.

On arriving home after the last 120 odd mile trip I left the engine idling as usual to let the turbos cool whilst unloading the luggage via the tailgate.

Noticed for the first time that while the LH exhaust pipe was making a nice subdued 'LUB, LUB, LUB, LUB' sound the RH didn't seem to making any sound.

Do you think this is normal or is there something amiss here? I'm wondering if it is something to do with EGR, slight misfire for example.

Grateful if any TDV8 owners would have a listen to their exhausts to see if each pipe makes the same sound.

Oh and Happy New Year everyone. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Took the opportunity to have a good look under my car when it was recently on a ramp for a gearbox flush. The right exhaust is considerably longer than the left. It comes down from the manifold and then does a 90 degree turn under the gearbox to joint the route of the left exhaust then further down the car it goes back over to the right side of the car prior to the backbox before exiting. This might have something to do with the differing sound you can hear, the exhaust lengths are mismatched.

Should be going out in mine tonight though only a short run will try to remember and listen to the exhausts. If there was an EGR fault would of expected it to show up when you where driving or flag up the EML. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Many thanks Camelrock (and to answer your previous question - no when I was comparing the sound from each side the car wasn't parked near a wall).

I'll have another check tomorrow but going on your information perhaps the left bank has a fault of some sort.

Car drives pretty well but I do have a slight vibration noticeable when accelerating or on a steady throttle above 60 MPH. So far all attempts to find the source have yielded no findings. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
