Please help with codes??!! Loss of power when driving :-(

Hi all
I'm a lady farmer, with a 57 RR sport HSE, 109k
Love the car, but, recently I've had problems, with loss of power. I put my foot on it, nothing much happens Evil or Very Mad
My mechanic and I got together, and read some codes, now we are having a small wager on whether the problem is turbo or EGR valves.
Knowing my luck it will probably be both, however, please can you give me the benefit of all of your experience relating the to codes and the 'behaviour' of the car - if it helps, I get the message "engine system fault" but no lights
P132B-22 - Intermittant
P0490-00 - Exhaust gas (historic....it says)
P132B-22 - Turbo boost control A performance (?!)

Welcome to the forum. The most common causes of power loss as described are splits in the turbo boost pipes and partially seized turbo actuator linkages.

The former is usually accompanied with smoke from the exhaust which you don't mention so maybe not the cause in your case.

The actuator linkages can be accessed from below or through the wheelarch if the liner is removed. Your mechanic needs to give it a good soaking with a lubricating spray and work it to and fro with a piece of welding wire or maybe baling wire given you are on a farm.

P4090 is I think an EGR related code so if the linkage is free but the problem persists the you might be losing that wager!

Also try searching this site for the term P132B to find other posts with alternative solutions since there may be a different problem.

Good luck and post up progress and any more information if you have any. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

This is what my manual says : P132B-22

Right-hand turbocharger boost control A performance - signal amplitude greater than maximum

Check the turbocharger and circuits. Refer to the electrical guides. Using a datalogger function, record the turbocharger actuator angle at idle and at 3,000 rpm. From idle, "blip" the throttle to maximum and allow to idle and record the turbocharger actuator angles. At idle, the angle should be approximately 95%, at 3,000 rpm, approximately 40%, and when "blipped" the voltage should change smoothly at approximately 25% per 100 ms. If the angles do not change, or do not change at the expected rate, suspect the turbocharger actuator is sticking. Install a new turbocharger. REFER to: Turbocharger RH (303-04F Fuel Charging and Controls - Turbocharger - TDV8 3.6L Diesel, Removal and Installation). Clear the DTCs and test for normal operation.

And for 0490-00

P049000 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit High
EGR valve drive circuit short circuit to power
Refer to the relevant workshop manual section.

Not much help but it could point you in the right direction.

Thank you! I'm so grateful for you all taking the time to reply. I am going to print all the answers and take it to him. He's a great mechanic and I think finds it a little amusing how much interest I take in my car, but not all ladies are afraid of getting their hands dirty!! I will definitely keep you all up to date on how we get on. Thanks again!!
