The TDV6 and the new SDV6 2012 engine? What does the SD stand for? i know the SDV6 is a few horses up on the 2011 TDV6.

I thought they were the same. On the Discovery 4 there is now a de-tuned version badged TDV6 with the SDV6 being the same as the 3.0 fitted to the RR Sport and as the D4 had from launch. WINNER - 2009 ‘Just Doing What It’s Designed To Do’ Award

The engines are identical in the TT family, just the ECU is tweaked to offer more power.

In the 2012 rrs the SD has more power than the TD and the SD is more economical

Can they be tweaked back by the dealer then? I know some European Market ones are "detuned" to about 210hp for tax reasons

Yes, dealer theoretically could remap it back and as you say it's for required markets plus anyone who requests the standard TD variant.

Thanks for the info, I did a quick search and most tech specs for the SD are for the 2012 model, which shows a 10 hp increase but torque remains at 600nm, so might not be worthwhile asking the dealer ( I doubt if they would remap it for free , despite it doing a software update for 6 hours everytome it goes in for a service!)

Thats right, and a 11 speaker stereo as standard,

Bi turbo not Twin Turbo.

New 3.0 has sequential turbos, they are different sizes.

The use of biturbo/twin turbo is a bit ambiguous , maserati had a biturbo- one on each bank of the v6 , other manufacurers have models designated twin turbo ( supra an BMW ). And yes, the rrs v6 does have a sequential turbo set up.

Hi there i have a 2010 TDV6 Range Rover Sport HSE 6 speed so am i correct in thinking i could go to a mapping or dealer place and make my model 255hp from 245hp to be the same as the MY12 RRS SDV6 ?

Your dealer cannot apply the higher power output mapping. You will have to have it remapped by a specialist for more power

Plus for some reason, a TDV6 remap is gives less power than a SDV6 remap, WHY? I asked this question on an Alive Tuning posting, funny never got a reply  In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
