Half a heated front screen

-4 here last night and the car was sat out on the drive overnight. I needed to shift it and it while it started up very quickly the drivers' side of the front screen took about 3 minutes to defrost a hefty layer of ice and frost but the passenger side was still not cleared after 5 minutes (it hadn't even started to clear) so I switched to the fast clear mode on the ventilation and the warmer air from the climate control did the job. It is worth noting that I have a chip on the drivers of the screen so I expected that that side would not heat up............. Anyone any ideas what checks I can do before a visit to a dealers to get it fixed.
No such problems with my 20 year old Defender that was also on the drive.............. the sun had cleared all the ice from the windows but the RRS was still in the shade.
Don't forget to set your wipers to either winter park position or Off when you park up for the night - don't leave them on "Auto" otherwise you can damage the rubbers if they are frozen to the screen. Even better - put the car away in a garage but that isn't an option for me as the RRS is too wide to get through my garage door...... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I seem to remember something about the L320 having 2 fuses Tim, one for each side of the heated screen? I hope I'm right by saying that but could the RRS2 be the same maybe. Embarassed

I just hit the remote on my FBH to defrost mine before jumping in but wise words reference the wipers if you don't have the facility Thumbs Up 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

I'm not sure if it is 2 fuses but on your vehicle Tim, the heated windscreen is connected by two connectors. My 15MY L405 needed a replacement windscreen and there was only one connection on the new screen. LR changed this circa 16MY so if you're on the original screen, you'll have a dual connector.

I have seen connectors in the windscreen pillar burnt out. Easy to get to, for a check. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

My last L320 did this. I believe it was just a fuse.

The car is in the workshops while the auto-electrician decides if it is the fuses, connections or a new front screen (not really something I want on a 19 month old car) when I checked it in they are also going to apply software upgrade Q634 to something called the "Gateway Module". Wasn't very encouraged by the receptionists remarks that "usually it takes 30 minutes to do the software upgrade......... if it "takes" it the first time!"

As an aside I am gobsmacked at the prices being asked for late plate Defenders - a year old 10,000 miler 110 XS is £38000 and a 95 miles 90 Adventurer (special run out edition) £47000 - lot of money for a used car!

Edit - car needs a new front screen Big Cry In some respects though this is a good thing as I have a small stone chip on the driver's side (which is working fine) out of line of sight and the screen will be replaced under warranty......... not on my insurance! Mr. Green

Q634 seems to have made the throttle very sensitive too Very Happy Car returned in 1.5 hours cleaned outside and in. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Just had a phone call from the dealership bodyshop - new screen was ordered yesterday, arrived this morning, "when can we have the car please?" First class service 24 hours from ordering screen to delivery at the dealership. Their own staff will do the work, they don't farm it out to Autoscreens or whoever. They ask to have the car in overnight, I assume to allow the adhesive to full cure and to carry out a water test.

Now anything I need to check after the new screen is in? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Let's hope the fitters are good Tim as I'm sure they don't change that many screens compared to Autoscreens or whoever so may not be as experienced when it comes to fitting and bonding correctly Whistle 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Know its an old thread but my 2017 RRS has now got this issue on the driver side (RHS)

Looking at the LR owner site for my MY, I can't seem to locate where the fuse for the heated screen is. Its a mid 2017 model so has the later electronics.

I have searched the three fuse box listings and nothing is shown. Figure its easier to check them than removing the trim.

Anyone have any idea ?
