New Discovery Tech to L494?

I'm very impressed with the tech on the New Discovery and it's making the L405/L494 look very out of date interior wise in terms of storage etc. A few highlight features I like:

    - Powered inner tailgate. Essentially folds down on demand to serve as a seat, or, to keep belongings from falling out when you open the one-piece tailgate. I'd love this on the L494.

    - Cooled Centre Console can accommodate 1L bottles

    - Storage behind the climate control panel - up to 5 tablets can be stored behind.

    - Hook for bags in the passenger footwell against the centre 'tunnel' - flush when not in use.

I wonder if this will come to the L494 for 18MY?

I would personally love the inner tailgate, powered or not!

They also make packing easier, especially if you are parked uphill. 2017 MY17 SDV6 SE

It would be very nice if LR could make existing tech work 100% and faultlessly before they even contemplate introducing more hi-tech gear that is bound to frustrate owners and put them off buying the cars. It would be even better if they properly tested some of the optional hardware such as the entry and departure underbody stainless steel bash plates that have to be removed from the car BEFORE you can take it off-road so that you can mount the front and rear recovery eyes.................. there was nothing wrong with the L320's recovery eye system but it had to be removed to make way for the L494's underside redesign. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Having played with the D5's powered inner tailgate thingy recently, I have to say that it's the worst idea I've seen in a long time. It's a sop to those who wanted a D3/4 style split tailgate but without any of the real benefits thereof. The whole thing just looked and felt like an afterthought.

A bigger central armrest cooler box would be great.

Storage for stuff in and around the cabin is always desirable. Shame that the ipad store thingy is now so well known that you may as well leave the lid open. Indeed, I wonder if they will be spate of broken windows as scrotes try to see if there's anything in there to steal.

Curry hooks are great and it's a shame that car makers aren't required by law to fit them in every car in the passenger footwell! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I've *touch wood* never had an issue with a car being broken into if desirables aren't in view. If I was a thief, why would I make the effort to attempt to smash a laminated window (a hard task) for no guaranteed 'win'? That's the way I've always looked at it anyway...
