Driver side door mirror hit hard just now and the whole thing needs replacing. The mount point on the car is fine but the cover is lost and the mirror innards/glass all shattered. Car is 11 months old. Opposite direction traffic disappeared into the night. Can't see any point going with insurance so I'm just enquiring before I hit the stealer tomorrow for best guesses for a dealer repair cost. Searching on here indicates approx. £300. Anyone who's had this done care to shed some light. Also, is using a 3rd party for repair worth considering? I have the 5 yr service plan but I guess this doesn't help under these circumstances.

The mirror complete (genuine) seems to be about £295 inc VAT + P&P say about 2.5 hours Labour max, depends where you go but say £65** per hour comes to around £447.50 total, so not a cheap repair at all. I believe copies are available, you may need to add cost of painting to match your colour too, dependant on if your colour available.

Priced from 3 different dealers bearing in mind that the whole unit needed replacing i.e. nothing remaining in the damaged mirror housing was reusable. Prices include painting (£70 inc vat = 0.7 hr) and labour (£109 inc vat).
Dealer 1 £889 no discount
Dealer 2 £753 10% d/c
Dealer 3 £756 10% d/c and is the dealer I purchased the car from 11 months ago.

Booked in on Friday with dealer 3. NB. The rear-view glass mirror part cost from all 3 dealers was £312.30 + vat = £374.76

Using ins wasn't an option by the time I paid the excess and took a hit for ins renewal despite having a (not so) protected NCB.

So be especially careful with your mirrors everyone!

Update 14th Nov. Dealer managed to salvage 2 parts so the total bill came to £698 inc labour, paint, vat etc.

I must apologise re incorrect pricing information previously given,
I didn't read your post correctly, and looked up the price for the wrong year/type of vehicle, not noticing you have the latest model which is far more expensive, possibly because of number of cars on the road and indicators etc built in and no patent parts yet available etc.
Some prices of "normal" parts no longer seem to represent the price of manufacture, and seemed plucked out of the sky. John

I've just had the same thing happen to me.

a lady knocked my mirror clean off!

costing £447 and thats without the painted mirror cap and indicator unit.

luckily the lady who done the damage admitted liability and has paid me for it already!
