Just had my gearbox flushed (properly) by JGS 4x4 in Isham near Kettering. They've done a fantastic job and all for only £260. I dealt with a lovely guy called Richard who appears to know everything about Land Rover vehicles. Not sure if they carry out general servicing but they sell all sorts of LR parts.

Would most certainly recommend them.

Wow that's cheap. Mine cost double that. Did it include a new metal sump cover? Also the oil is £20 per litre.

Had mine done at 160000 as it was juddering.

Ah, so 40k miles is a bit premature then...story of my life!

I just wondered if there was a recommended time which might be different to the manufacturers, which I could arrange separate to the official service.

40k is certainly not premature. It is never a bad idea to change the oil earlier than recommended

The official ZF recommendation is between 50-75k miles during normal driving conditions, and as low as 30k miles if towing frequently, frequent high speed driving, or frequent off roading

I had my 2006 RRS done at 61k. The JGS 4x4 £260 obviously doesn't include the metal sump cover but, competitors where quoting £350 + vat for the same flush. I would recommend giving them a call and discuss any extras you may require. It's worth the extra miles to use them.

You can't go wrong at JGS 4x4 had mine flushed a few weeks ago reset gearbox £260 all in.They are in Isham near Kettering and also do Remaps very knowledgeable and friendly people.
